To be eligible for a Multistate License under the terms and\n\nprovisions of the Compact, an applicant, regardless of category\n\nmust:\n\n1. Hold or be eligible for an active, Unencumbered License in\n\nthe Home State;\n\n2. Pay any applicable fees, including any State fee, for the\n\nMultistate License;\n\n3. Submit, in connection with an application for a Multistate\n\nLicense, fingerprints or other biometric data for the purpose of\n\nobtaining criminal history record information from the Federal\n\nBureau of Investigation and the agency responsible for retaining\n\nthat State’s criminal records;\n\n4. Notify the Home State of any Adverse Action, Encumbrance, or\n\nrestriction on any professional license taken by any Member State or\n\nnon-Member State within thirty (30) days from the date the action is\n\ntaken;\n\n5. Meet any continuing competence requirements established by\n\nthe Home State;\n\n6. Abide by the laws, regulations, and applicable standards in\n\nthe Member State where the client is located at the time care is\n\nrendered.\n\nB. An applicant for a clinical-category Multistate License must\n\nmeet all of the following requirements:\n\n1. Fulfill a competency requirement, which shall be satisfied\n\nby either:\n\na. passage of a clinical-category Qualifying National\n\nExam, or\n\nb. licensure of the applicant in their Home State at the\n\nclinical category, beginning prior to such time as a\n\nQualifying National Exam was required by the Home\n\nState and accompanied by a period of continuous Social\n\nWork licensure thereafter, all of which may be further\n\ngoverned by the Rules of the Commission, or\n\nc. the substantial equivalency of the foregoing\n\ncompetency requirements which the Commission may\n\ndetermine by Rule;\n\n2. Attain at least a master’s degree in Social Work from a\n\nprogram that is:\n\na. operated by a college or university recognized by the\n\nLicensing Authority, and\n\nb. accredited, or in candidacy that subsequently becomes\n\naccredited, by an accrediting agency recognized by\n\neither:\n\n(1) the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or\n\nits successor, or\n\n(2) the United States Department of Education;\n\n3. Fulfill a practice requirement, which shall be satisfied by\n\ndemonstrating completion of either:\n\na. a period of postgraduate supervised clinical practice\n\nequal to a minimum of three thousand (3,000) hours, or\n\nb. a minimum of two (2) years of full-time postgraduate\n\nsupervised clinical practice, or\n\nc. the substantial equivalency of the foregoing practice\n\nrequirements which the Commission may determine by\n\nRule.\n\nC. An applicant for a master’s-category Multistate License must\n\nmeet all of the following requirements:\n\n1. Fulfill a competency requirement, which shall be satisfied\n\nby either:\n\na. passage of a master's-category Qualifying National\n\nExam,\n\nb. licensure of the applicant in their Home State at the\n\nmaster’s category, beginning prior to such time as a\n\nQualifying National Exam was required by the Home\n\nState at the master’s category and accompanied by a\n\ncontinuous period of Social Work licensure thereafter,\n\nall of which may be further governed by the Rules of\n\nthe Commission, or\n\nc. the substantial equivalency of the foregoing\n\ncompetency requirements which the Commission may\n\ndetermine by Rule;\n\n2. Attain at least a master’s degree in Social Work from a\n\nprogram that is:\n\na. operated by a college or university recognized by the\n\nLicensing Authority, and\n\nb. accredited, or in candidacy that subsequently becomes\n\naccredited, by an accrediting agency recognized by\n\neither:\n\n(1) the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or\n\nits successor, or\nwhich the Commission may\n\ndetermine by Rule;\n\n2. Attain at least a master’s degree in Social Work from a\n\nprogram that is:\n\na. operated by a college or university recognized by the\n\nLicensing Authority, and\n\nb. accredited, or in candidacy that subsequently becomes\n\naccredited, by an accrediting agency recognized by\n\neither:\n\n(1) the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or\n\nits successor, or\n\n(2) the United States Department of Education.\n\nD. An applicant for a bachelor’s-category Multistate License\n\nmust meet all of the following requirements:\n\n1. Fulfill a competency requirement, which shall be satisfied\n\nby either:\n\na. passage of a bachelor’s-category Qualifying National\n\nExam,\n\nb. licensure of the applicant in their Home State at the\n\nbachelor’s category, beginning prior to such time as a\n\nQualifying National Exam was required by the Home\n\nState and accompanied by a period of continuous Social\n\nWork licensure thereafter, all of which may be further\n\ngoverned by the Rules of the Commission, or\n\nc. the substantial equivalency of the foregoing\n\ncompetency requirements which the Commission may\n\ndetermine by Rule;\n\n2. Attain at least a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from a\n\nprogram that is:\n\na. operated by a college or university recognized by the\n\nLicensing Authority, and\n\nb. accredited, or in candidacy that subsequently becomes\n\naccredited, by an accrediting agency recognized by\n\neither:\n\n(1) the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or\n\nits successor, or\n\n(2) the United States Department of Education.\n\nE. The Multistate License for a Regulated Social Worker is\n\nsubject to the renewal requirements of the Home State. The\n\nRegulated Social Worker must maintain compliance with the\n\nrequirements of subsection A of this section to be eligible to renew\n\na Multistate License.\n\nF. The Regulated Social Worker’s services in a Remote State are\n\nsubject to that Member State’s regulatory authority. A Remote State\n\nmay, in accordance with due process and that Member State’s laws,\n\nremove a Regulated Social Worker’s Multistate Authorization to\n\nPractice in the Remote State for a specific period of time, impose\n\nfines, and take any other necessary actions to protect the health\n\nand safety of its citizens.\n\nG. If a Multistate License is encumbered, the Regulated Social\n\nWorker’s Multistate Authorization to Practice shall be deactivated\n\nin all Remote States until the Multistate License is no longer\n\nencumbered.\n\nH.
