The application for license to serve as a bail bondsman\n\nshall affirmatively show that the applicant:\n\n1. Is a person who has reached the age of twenty-one (21)\n\nyears;\n\n2. Has not been previously convicted of, or pled guilty or nolo\n\ncontendere to, any felony crime that substantially relates to the\n\noccupation of a bail bondsman and poses a reasonable threat to\n\npublic safety;\n\n3. Is a citizen of the United States;\n\n4. Has been a bona fide resident of the state for at least one\n\n(1) year;\n\n5. Will actively engage in the bail bond business;\n\n6. Has knowledge or experience, or has received instruction in\n\nthe bail bond business; and\n\n7. Has a high school diploma or its equivalent; provided,\n\nhowever, the provisions of this paragraph shall apply only to\n\ninitial applications for license submitted on or after November 1,\n\n1997, and shall not apply to renewal applications for license.\n\nB. The applicant shall apply electronically on forms approved\n\nby the Insurance Commissioner, and the Commissioner may propound any\n\nreasonable interrogatories to an applicant for a license pursuant to\n\nSections 1301 through 1341 of this title, or on any renewal thereof,\n\nrelating to qualifications, residence, prospective place of business\n\nand any other matters which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, are\n\ndeemed necessary or expedient in order to protect the public and\n\nascertain the qualifications of the applicant. The Commissioner may\n\nalso conduct any reasonable inquiry or investigation relative to the\n\ndetermination of the fitness of the applicant to be licensed or to\n\ncontinue to be licensed including, but not limited to, requiring a\n\nnational criminal history record check as defined by Section 150.9\n\nof Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes. The Commissioner may require\n\nany documents reasonably necessary to verify the information in the\n\napplication.\n\nC. An applicant shall furnish to the Commissioner a license fee\n\nof Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) with the application, two\n\ncomplete sets of the fingerprints of the applicant and a recent\n\ncredential-size full face photograph of the applicant. The\n\nfingerprints of the applicant shall be certified by an authorized\n\nlaw enforcement officer. The applicant shall provide with the\n\napplication an investigative fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)\n\nwith which the Commissioner will conduct an investigation of the\n\napplicant. All fees shall be nonrefundable.\n\nD. In addition to the license fee set forth in subsection C of\n\nthis section, an applicant for a multicounty agent bondsman license\n\nshall furnish to the Commissioner a license fee of Seven Hundred\n\nFifty Dollars ($750.00).\n\nE. Failure of the applicant to secure approval of the\n\nCommissioner shall not preclude the applicant from reapplying, but a\n\nsecond application shall not be considered by the Commissioner\n\nwithin three (3) months after denial of the last application.\n\nF. The fee for a duplicate pocket license shall be Twenty-five\n\nDollars ($25.00).\n\nG. As used in this section:\n\n1. \"Substantially relates\" means the nature of criminal conduct\n\nfor which the person was convicted has a direct bearing on the\n\nfitness or ability to perform one or more of the duties or\n\nresponsibilities necessarily related to the occupation; and\n\n2. \"Poses a reasonable threat\" means the nature of criminal\n\nconduct for which the person was convicted involved an act or threat\n\nof harm against another and has a bearing on the fitness or ability\n\nto serve the public or work with others in the occupation.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7e7b0ff1713df175fba4374bc339c6e1023defaeb29df357c29b45efa1f5b1df","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1304","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1306"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
