Podiatric medicine is that profession of the health sciences\n\nconcerned with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting\n\nthe human foot and ankle, including the local manifestations of\n\nsystemic conditions, by all appropriate systems and means.\n\nB. Any one or more of the following shall be deemed to be\n\npracticing podiatric medicine:\n\n1. In any way examining, diagnosing, recommending for,\n\nprescribing for, caring for or treating in this state ailments,\n\ndiseased conditions, deformities or injuries of the human foot and\n\nankle, whether or not done directly thereon;\n\n2. Massage or adjustment in connection with such examining,\n\ndiagnosing, recommending, prescribing, treating, or caring for;\n\n3. Fitting, building, or otherwise furnishing pads, inserts,\n\nappliances, inlays, splints, or supports, or giving or using\n\nmedicament or anesthetics in connection with such examining,\n\ndiagnosing, recommending, prescribing, treating, caring for, or\n\nfitting; and\n\n4. Offering in this state to any person to do or cause to be\n\ndone, or attempting in this state to do or cause to be done, any or\n\nall of the foregoing.\n\nC. The provisions of the Podiatric Medicine Practice Act shall\n\nnot apply to:\n\n1. The sale of proprietary or patented foot remedies, pads,\n\nsupports or corrective shoes;\n\n2. The fitting or recommending of appliances, devices, or shoes\n\nfor the prevention, correction, or relief of foot ailments or\n\ntroubles, by regularly established retail dealers or their regular\n\nsalesmen, not holding themselves out to the public as podiatric\n\nphysicians under the terms of this act;\n\n3. A person providing services or assistance in case of an\n\nemergency if no fee or other consideration is contemplated, charged,\n\nor received; or\n\n4. Any person who is licensed to practice podiatric medicine in\n\nanother state or territory of the United States whose sole purpose\n\nand activity in this state is to practice podiatric medicine and\n\nsurgery with a specific podiatrist who is licensed to practice\n\npodiatric medicine by the Board, excluding a podiatrist with a\n\ntemporary or restricted license. The length of such person’s\n\npractice in this state shall be limited to four (4) weeks per year\n\nand shall be limited to training purposes.
