Stat. tit. 59, § 59-144","heading":"Examination - Fee - Qualifications of applicants –","body":"Definitions – License - Temporary license.\n\nA. The fee for examination for a license to practice podiatric\n\nmedicine in this state shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). The\n\nBoard of Podiatric Medical Examiners may increase this fee by not\n\nmore than an additional Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). The\n\nexamination for such license shall be given by the Board. The Board\n\nmay give the examination at any special meeting, but shall not be\n\nrequired to do so. The Board may utilize the National Board of\n\nPodiatric Examiners' National Board Examination Part III as the\n\nwritten portion of the state licensing exam.\n\nB. To be entitled to take the examination, a person shall:\n\n1. File a written or electronic online application on a form\n\nprescribed by the Board;\n\n2. Pay to the secretary-treasurer of the Board in advance the\n\nfee for examination;\n\n3. Satisfy the Board that the person legally resides in the\n\nUnited States of America;\n\n4. Be more than twenty-one (21) years of age;\n\n5. Not have been convicted of any felony crime that\n\nsubstantially relates to the practice of podiatric medicine and\n\nposes a reasonable threat to public safety;\n\n6. Be a graduate of an accredited college of podiatric\n\nmedicine; and\n\n7. Have complied with applicable Board rules.\n\nC. An applicant satisfying the requirements of subsection B of\n\nthis section shall receive a license to practice podiatric medicine\n\nin this state, to be issued by the Board, if the applicant:\n\n1. Takes the examination administered or approved by the Board\n\nand receives a passing score of at least seventy-five percent (75%)\n\non both the written and oral portions. An applicant receiving less\n\nthan a score of seventy-five percent (75%) on either the written or\n\noral portion of the examination shall be deemed to have failed the\n\nentire examination;\n\n2. Satisfactorily completes a podiatric surgical residency,\n\napproved by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education of the\n\nAmerican Podiatric Medical Association, of not less than three (3)\n\nyears; provided, the provisions of this paragraph shall only apply\n\nto applicants after March 1, 2018;\n\n3. Satisfies the Board that the applicant has not violated any\n\nof the provisions of the Podiatric Medicine Practice Act or any of\n\nthe rules of the Board; and\n\n4. Satisfies the Board, in the case of any criminal conviction,\n\nthat the crime does not substantially relate to the practice of\n\npodiatric medicine nor pose a reasonable threat to public safety, or\n\nconstitute an act of moral turpitude that would affect the practice\n\nof podiatric medicine or public safety. For purposes of this\n\nparagraph:\n\na. \"substantially relate\" means the nature of criminal\n\nconduct for which the person was convicted has a\n\ndirect bearing on the fitness or ability to perform\n\none or more of the duties or responsibilities\n\nnecessarily related to the occupation, and\n\nb. \"pose a reasonable threat\" means the nature of\n\ncriminal conduct for which the person was convicted\n\ninvolved an act or threat of harm against another and\n\nhas a bearing on the fitness or ability to serve the\n\npublic or work with others in the occupation.\n\nD. The examination administered or approved by the Board shall\n\ninclude both a written and an oral portion, shall be administered in\n\nthe English language, and shall cover areas in anatomy, pathology,\n\npodiatric medicine and surgery, dermatology, pharmacology,\n\nbiomechanics, anesthesia, radiology, Oklahoma law relating to\n\npodiatric medicine, and such other subjects as the Board from time\n\nto time determines necessary and appropriate. The Board may\n\nauthorize examination papers to be graded by one or more of its own\n\nmembers or by any one or more licensed podiatric physicians selected\n\nby the Board. Each license issued by the Board shall be signed by\n\neach member of the Board, bear the seal of the Board, and designate\ndiatric medicine, and such other subjects as the Board from time\n\nto time determines necessary and appropriate. The Board may\n\nauthorize examination papers to be graded by one or more of its own\n\nmembers or by any one or more licensed podiatric physicians selected\n\nby the Board. Each license issued by the Board shall be signed by\n\neach member of the Board, bear the seal of the Board, and designate\n\nthe licensee as a licensed podiatric physician.\n\nE. The Board may issue a temporary license if the applicant:\n\n1. Has met the requirements of subsection B of this section;\n\n2. Takes the examination administered or approved by the Board\n\nand receives a passing score of at least seventy-five percent (75%)\n\non both the written and oral portions. An applicant receiving less\n\nthan a score of seventy-five percent (75%) on either the written or\n\noral portion of the examination shall be deemed to have failed the\n\nentire examination;\n\n3. Is within ninety (90) days of completing or has completed a\n\npodiatric surgical residency, approved by the Council of Podiatric\n\nMedical Education of the American Podiatric Medical Association, of\n\nnot less than three (3) years; provided, the provisions of this\n\nparagraph shall only apply to applicants after March 1, 2018; and\n\n4.
