The following shall be considered as minimum evidence\n\nsatisfactory to the Polygraph Examiners Board that the applicant is\n\nqualified for registration as a polygraph examiner:\n\n1. Attainment of at least twenty-one (21) years of age;\n\n2. Citizenship of the United States;\n\n3. Never having been convicted of a felony crime that\n\nsubstantially relates to the occupation of a polygraph examiner and\n\nposes a reasonable threat to public safety; and\n\n4. a. hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or\n\nuniversity accredited by the American Association of\n\nCollegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, or, in\n\nlieu thereof, be a graduate of an accredited high\n\nschool and have five (5) consecutive years of active\n\ninvestigative experience of a character satisfactory\n\nto the Board,\n\nb. be a graduate of a polygraph examiners course approved\n\nby the Board and have satisfactorily completed not\n\nless than six (6) months of internship training, and\n\nc. have passed an examination conducted by and to the\n\nsatisfaction of the Board, or under its supervision,\n\nto determine his competency to obtain a license to\n\npractice as an examiner.\n\nB. Beginning July 1, 1996, employees of the Oklahoma State\n\nBureau of Investigation (OSBI) who are employed on that date by the\n\nOSBI as polygraphers shall become licensed pursuant to the Polygraph\n\nExaminers Act without undergoing the testing and training\n\nrequirements provided for in subparagraphs b and c of paragraph 4 of\n\nsubsection A of this section. Any person who is employed as a\n\npolygrapher for the OSBI after July 1, 1996, shall be required to\n\nmeet the testing and training requirements prior to licensure.\n\nC. As used in this section:\n\n1. \"Substantially relates\" means the nature of criminal conduct\n\nfor which the person was convicted has a direct bearing on the\n\nfitness or ability to perform one or more of the duties or\n\nresponsibilities necessarily related to the occupation; and\n\n2. \"Poses a reasonable threat\" means the nature of criminal\n\nconduct for which the person was convicted involved an act or threat\n\nof harm against another and has a bearing on the fitness or ability\n\nto serve the public or work with others in the occupation.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7cd640539a17682aa7faa7ac2c659c1b967d81a9b4f2b26f035246174cad20ff","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1457","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1460"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
