Every dealer shall keep a record of any transaction\n\nwith any person involving the purchasing of any used\n\nitem made, or containing in whole or in part, any precious\n\nmetal or gem. The following information shall be\n\nrecorded for precious metals or gems:\n\n1. An account and detailed description or photograph of the\n\nitem purchased, including, if applicable, the manufacturer's name,\n\nthe model, the model number, the serial number and any engraved\n\nmarking;\n\n2. The amount of money involved in the transaction;\n\n3. The date;\n\n4. The name, address and driver license number of the person\n\ninvolved in the transaction with the dealer; if the person has no\n\ndriver license, then the date of birth and general physical\n\ndescription, including hair color and approximate height and weight\n\nof that person; and\n\n5. The signature of the seller.\n\nFor purposes of describing the item or items in the transaction\n\npursuant to paragraph 1 of this subsection, it shall be a violation\n\nfor the dealer to state only the number of grams and type of\n\nprecious metal or type of gem as a description. The description\n\nshall clearly and accurately describe each item containing any\n\nprecious metals or gems presented to the dealer for purposes of the\n\ntransaction.\n\nB. The record required by this section shall be kept for a\n\nperiod of four (4) years. Such record shall be made available\n\nduring regular business hours for inspection by the Department of\n\nConsumer Credit and any law enforcement officer authorized by a law\n\nenforcement agency to inspect such record.\n\nC. No dealer shall be required to furnish the description of\n\nany new property purchased from manufacturers or wholesale dealers\n\nat an established place of business or of any goods purchased from\n\nany bankrupt stock. Such goods shall be accompanied by a bill of\n\nsale or other evidence of open and legitimate purchase. The bill of\n\nsale shall also be available for inspection during regular business\n\nhours.\n\nD. No dealer shall be required to furnish a description of\n\nproperty purchased from another licensed dealer or to meet the\n\nholding period provided for in Section 1531 of this title if that\n\ndealer has met the requirements provided for in subsection A of this\n\nsection and Section 1531 of this title upon the initial purchase of\n\nthe property; provided, that each shall record the license number of\n\nthe other dealer and the amount of the transaction.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"056f01ecf19e122512ff0a2a23b86655629824604811b63524099c5c3ccc8a4b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1529","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1531"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
