Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1576","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this Compact:\n\n1. \"Active duty military\" means full-time duty status in the\n\nactive uniformed service of the United States, including members of\n\nthe National Guard and Reserve on active duty orders pursuant to 10\n\nU.S.C., Sections 1209 and 1211;\n\n2. \"Adverse action\" means any administrative, civil, equitable\n\nor criminal action permitted by a state's laws which is imposed by a\n\nlicensing board or other authority against an audiologist or speech\n\nlanguage pathologist, including actions against an individual's\n\nlicense or privilege to practice such as revocation, suspension,\n\nprobation, monitoring of the licensee or restriction on the\n\nlicensee's practice;\n\n3. \"Alternative program\" means a nondisciplinary monitoring\n\nprocess approved by an audiology or speech-language pathology\n\nlicensing board to address impaired practitioners;\n\n4. \"Audiologist\" means an individual who is licensed by a state\n\nto practice audiology;\n\n5. \"Audiology\" means the care and services provided by a\n\nlicensed audiologist as set forth in the member state's statutes and\n\nrules;\n\n6. \"Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Compact Commission\"\n\nor \"Commission\" means the national administrative body whose\n\nmembership consists of all states that have enacted the Compact;\n\n7. \"Audiology and speech-language pathology licensing board\",\n\n\"audiology licensing board\", \"speech-language pathology licensing\n\nboard\" or \"licensing board\" means the agency of a state that is\n\nresponsible for the licensing and regulation of audiologists and/or\n\nspeech-language pathologists;\n\n8. \"Compact privilege\" means the authorization granted by a\n\nremote state to allow a licensee from another member state to\n\npractice as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist in the\n\nremote state under its laws and rules. The practice of audiology or\n\nspeech-language pathology occurs in the member state where the\n\npatient, client or student is located at the time of the patient,\n\nclient, or student encounter;\n\n9. \"Current significant investigative information\" means\n\ninvestigative information that a licensing board, after an inquiry\n\nor investigation that includes notification and an opportunity for\n\nthe audiologist or speech-language pathologist to respond, if\n\nrequired by state law, has reason to believe is not groundless and,\n\nif proved true, would indicate more than a minor infraction;\n\n10. \"Data system\" means a repository of information about\n\nlicensees including, but not limited to, continuing education,\n\nexamination, licensure, investigative, Compact privilege and adverse\n\naction;\n\n11. \"Encumbered license\" means a license in which an adverse\n\naction restricts the practice of audiology or speech-language\n\npathology by the licensee and said adverse action has been reported\n\nto the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB);\n\n12. \"Executive Committee\" means a group of directors elected or\n\nappointed to act on behalf of, and within the powers granted to them\n\nby, the Commission;\n\n13. \"Home state\" means the member state that is the licensee's\n\nprimary state of residence;\n\n14. \"Impaired practitioner\" means individuals whose\n\nprofessional practice is adversely affected by substance abuse,\n\naddiction or other health-related conditions;\n\n15. \"Licensee\" means an individual who currently holds an\n\nauthorization from the state licensing board to practice as an\n\naudiologist or speech-language pathologist;\n\n16. \"Member state\" means a state that has enacted the Compact;\n\n17. \"Privilege to practice\" means a legal authorization\n\npermitting the practice of audiology or speech-language pathology in\n\na remote state;\n\n18. \"Remote state\" means a member state other than the home\n\nstate where a licensee is exercising or seeking to exercise the\n\nCompact privilege;\n\n19. \"Rule\" means a regulation, principle or directive\nge to practice\" means a legal authorization\n\npermitting the practice of audiology or speech-language pathology in\n\na remote state;\n\n18. \"Remote state\" means a member state other than the home\n\nstate where a licensee is exercising or seeking to exercise the\n\nCompact privilege;\n\n19. \"Rule\" means a regulation, principle or directive\n\npromulgated by the Commission that has the force of law;\n\n20. \"Single-state license\" means an audiology or speech\n\nlanguage pathology license issued by a member state that authorizes\n\npractice only within the issuing state and does not include a\n\nprivilege to practice in any other member state;\n\n21. \"Speech-language pathologist\" means an individual who is\n\nlicensed by a state to practice speech-language pathology;\n\n22. \"Speech-language pathology\" means the care and services\n\nprovided by a licensed speech-language pathologist as set forth in\n\nthe member state's statutes and rules;\n\n23. \"State\" means any state, commonwealth, district or\n\nterritory of the United States of America that regulates the\n\npractice of audiology and speech-language pathology;\n\n24. \"State practice laws\" means a member state's laws, rules\n\nand regulations that govern the practice of audiology or speech\n\nlanguage pathology, define the scope of audiology or speech-language\n\npathology practice, and create the methods and grounds for imposing\n\ndiscipline; and\n\n25. \"Telehealth\" means the application of telecommunication\n\ntechnology to deliver audiology or speech-language pathology\n\nservices at a distance for assessment, intervention and/or\n\nconsultation.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"14ac9dd45f2b9fb82d4ba930b5f7e01897a6e206d5adccb9c30d2529ea190e8c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1575","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1577"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
