Stat. tit. 59, § 59-161.3","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Chiropractic Practice Act, these words,\n\nphrases or terms, unless the context otherwise indicates, shall have\n\nthe following meanings:\n\n1. \"Accredited chiropractic college\" means a chiropractic\n\neducational institution which is accredited by an accrediting agency\n\nrecognized by the U.S. Department of Education;\n\n2. \"Animal chiropractic diagnosis and treatment\" means\n\ntreatment that includes vertebral subluxation complex (vsc) and\n\nspinal manipulation of nonhuman vertebrates. The term \"animal\n\nchiropractic diagnosis and treatment\" shall not be construed to\n\nallow the:\n\na. use of x-rays,\n\nb. performing of surgery,\n\nc. dispensing or administering of medications, or\n\nd. performance of traditional veterinary care;\n\n3. \"Applicant\" means any person submitting an application for\n\nlicensure to the Board;\n\n4. \"Board\" means the Board of Chiropractic Examiners;\n\n5. \"Certified chiropractic assistant\" means an unlicensed\n\nmember of a chiropractic physician's team of healthcare workers who\n\nmay assist a chiropractic physician in the performance of\n\nexamination and therapeutic procedures and techniques necessary to\n\ndeliver healthcare services to patients within the scope of\n\nchiropractic and has been certified by the Board;\n\n6. \"Chiropractic physician\", \"chiropractor\", \"doctor of\n\nchiropractic\", \"practitioner of chiropractic\" and \"licensee\" are\n\nsynonymous and mean a person holding an original license to practice\n\nchiropractic in this state;\n\n7. \"Examination\" means the process used by the Board, prior to\n\nthe issuance of an original license, to test the qualifications and\n\nknowledge of an applicant on any or all of the following: current\n\nstatutes, rules or any of those subjects listed in Section 161.8 of\n\nthis title;\n\n8. \"Intern\" means a student at an accredited chiropractic\n\ncollege who is participating in the Chiropractic Undergraduate\n\nPreceptorship Program;\n\n9. \"Nonclinical\" means of a business nature including, but not\n\nlimited to, practice management, insurance information, and computer\n\ninformation. It shall also mean the discussion of philosophy as it\n\nrelates to the performance of chiropractic;\n\n10. \"Original license\" means a license granting initial\n\nauthorization to practice chiropractic in this state issued by the\n\nBoard to an applicant found by the Board to meet the licensing\n\nrequirements of the Oklahoma Chiropractic Practice Act, by\n\nexamination pursuant to Section 161.7 of this title, or by\n\nrelocation of practice pursuant to Section 161.9 of this title;\n\n11. \"Preceptor\" means a chiropractic physician who is\n\nparticipating in the Chiropractic Undergraduate Preceptorship\n\nProgram;\n\n12. \"Relocation of practice\" means the recognition and approval\n\nby the Board, prior to the issuance of an original license, of the\n\nchiropractic licensing process in another state, country, territory\n\nor province; and\n\n13. \"Renewal license\" means a license issued to a chiropractic\n\nphysician by the Board, on or before the first day of July of each\n\nyear, which authorizes such licensee to practice chiropractic in\n\nthis state during the succeeding calendar year.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"59feba2ca3483417f973705aa76201bacfa2e74fce4368fd63dd578915086eec","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-161.20","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-161.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
