Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1627","heading":"Welding inspectors - Powers and duties","body":"A welding inspector shall have the following powers and duties:1. Verify that the work which he inspects conforms to the requirements of the applicable codes, standards and job specifications;\n\n2. Verify that the base materials and consumable welding\n\nmaterials conform to the specification requirements and that the\n\nspecified welding filler metals are used on each base metal or\n\ncombination of base metals;\n\n3. Verify that the welding equipment to be used for the work is\n\nthat which is specified in the welding procedure and has the\n\ncapability to produce the specified welds;\n\n4. Verify that the welding procedures are as specified,\n\nqualified and available to the welders for reference;\n\n5. Verify that the welders have been properly qualified in\n\naccordance with the applicable codes and standards, and that their\n\nqualification authorizes them to use the welding procedures\n\nspecified for the work. If there is evidence that the welder's work\n\ndoes not conform to the requirements of the applicable code,\n\nstandard or specification, the welding inspector may require\n\nrequalification of a welder, if that person's qualification is not\n\ncurrent by the requirements of the applicable codes, standards or\n\nspecifications;\n\n6. When qualifying welders, the welding inspector shall observe\n\nthe qualification tests;\n\n7. Verify that only specified and properly qualified welding\n\nprocedures are used for the work;\n\n8. Verify that the joint preparation and fit-up meets the\n\nrequirements of the welding procedure and drawings;\n\n9. Verify that the specified filler metals are used and that\n\nthe filler metals are maintained in proper condition for use as\n\nspecified;\n\n10. Observe the technique and performance of each welder;\n\n11. Examine the work for conformance to the requirements of the\n\napplicable codes, standards, specifications and drawings;\n\n12. Identify the work he inspects with specified marking\n\nmethods or appropriate records;\n\n13. Perform the necessary visual inspections;\n\n14. Verify that the required visual and other nondestructive\n\nexaminations have been performed by qualified personnel in the\n\nspecified manner. He shall review the resulting information to\n\nassure that the results are complete. The welding inspector may\n\nperform nondestructive examinations that are specified, providing he\n\nis qualified in accordance with the specified requirements; and\n\n15. Prepare clear and concise reports and keep necessary\n\nrecords of the welding procedure, the welding procedure\n\nqualifications, the welding qualifications, the control of welding\n\nmaterials and the results of inspections and tests.
