Upon the effective date of this act, owner-user inspectors\n\nfollowing weldment procedures which conform to the applicable code\n\nfor qualifying welders and testing weldments by nondestructive or\n\ndestructive methods shall be exempt from this act. Any inspector who\n\nhas been certified by the American Welding Society shall be exempt.\n\nB. Any weld-test facility, which has been approved and\n\ncertified under this title by the Oklahoma Department of Labor on or\n\nbefore January 1, 1979, to test and qualify welder operators and\n\nwhich has as its primary function the testing and qualifying of\n\nwelder operators, shall be approved to continue as authorized and\n\nmay operate using inspectors who have documentation of a minimum of\n\nseven (7) years of the last ten (10) years of experience in the\n\ninspection field.\n\nC. The Commissioner of Labor shall, upon proper application and\n\nthe payment of fees within ninety (90) days after the effective date\n\nof this act, and annually thereafter upon payment of the fees\n\nprovided herein shall issue certification without examination to\n\nthose persons who test and qualify welder operators, upon producing\n\nproof satisfactory to the Commissioner, that they meet the\n\nrequirements of this section, and who have otherwise complied with\n\nthe provisions of this act.\n\nD. For one (1) year from the effective date of this act,\n\nstructural steel welders with five (5) or more years of experience,\n\nas verified by the Department of Labor, shall not be required to\n\npass a welding test, but must otherwise comply with the provisions\n\nof this act and the rules promulgated by the Department of Labor to\n\nimplement the Oklahoma Welding Act.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"31539434462076861d49428606a4008884886256848718b581cc91876929bc77","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1637","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1639"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
