Effective January 1, 2026, no contractor or journeyman\n\nlicense shall be renewed unless the licensee has completed twelve\n\n(12) hours of continuing education every three (3) years or thirty-\n\nsix (36) months preceding license renewal. If a license expires\n\nbefore the licensee completes the continuing education requirement,\n\nany continuing education that is completed while the license is\n\nexpired will be applied to the continuing education requirement for\n\nthe thirty-six (36) months preceding the date the license expired.\n\nOnce the continuing education requirement for the expired license is\n\nmet, along with any other requirements, the expired license may be\n\nrenewed. Twelve (12) hours of continuing education will have to be\n\ncompleted in order to meet the continuing education requirement for\n\nthe subsequent thirty-six-month period. The continuing education\n\ncourse and instructor shall be approved in advance by the Committee\n\nof Electrical Examiners. Exceptions to advance approval, or post-\n\ncourse approval, may be allowed by the Committee, or its designee,\n\nfor substitute instructors in emergency situations when written\n\nnotice of the emergency is provided to the Committee, or its\n\ndesignee, within seven (7) days of the course. The location of\n\ncontinuing education courses shall be at the discretion of the\n\ncourse provider and may be scheduled during the workday at the\n\ndiscretion of the course provider. The continuing education\n\nmaterial shall cover six (6) hours of codes and revisions adopted by\n\nthe Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC). The\n\nremaining six (6) hours may include the study of: electrical\n\ncircuit theory and calculations, wiring methods, grounding and\n\nbonding, transformer and motor theory, electrical circuits and\n\ndevices, control systems, alternative energy systems including\n\nenergy storage, safety related to the electrical industry as defined\n\nby NFPA 70E, manufacturers' installation of equipment or parts, the\n\nElectrical License Act, the trade regulations as set forth in this\n\nact as well as the rules of the Construction Industries Board, and\n\nother trade subject matters approved by the Committee.\n\n2. Effective January 1, 2026, no apprentice shall be permitted\n\nto reregister unless the apprentice registrant has completed three\n\n(3) hours of continuing education every year preceding re-\n\nregistration. If a registration expires before the registrant\n\ncompletes the continuing education requirement, any continuing\n\neducation that is completed while the registration is expired will\n\nbe applied to the continuing education requirement for the year\n\npreceding the date the registration expired. Once the continuing\n\neducation requirement for the expired registration is met, along\n\nwith any other requirements, the apprentice is allowed to re-\n\nregister after having an expired registration. Three (3) hours of\n\ncontinuing education will still have to be completed in order to\n\nmeet the continuing education requirement for the subsequent\n\nregistration year. The continuing education course and instructor\n\nshall be approved in advance by the Committee. Notwithstanding the\n\nprovisions of this subsection, if an apprentice is a student\n\napprentice or is enrolled and attending an approved course, the\n\ncontinuing education shall not be required.\n\nB.
