Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1850.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Mechanical Licensing Act:\n\n1. \"Air conditioning system\" means the process of treating air\n\nby controlling its temperature, humidity, and cleanliness, to meet\n\nthe requirements of a designated area;\n\n2. \"Committee\" means the Committee of Mechanical Examiners;\n\n3. “Board” means the Construction Industries Board;\n\n4. \"Gas piping\" means and includes all natural gas piping\n\nwithin or adjacent to any building, structure, or conveyance, on the\n\npremises and to the connection with a natural gas meter, regulator,\n\nor other source of supply;\n\n5. \"Heating systems\" means and includes systems consisting of\n\nair heating appliances from which the heated air is distributed and\n\nshall include any accessory apparatus and equipment installed in\n\nconnection therewith;\n\n6. \"Mechanical contractor\" or \"contractor\" means any person\n\nengaged in the business of planning, contracting, supervising or\n\nfurnishing labor or labor and materials for mechanical work;\n\n7. \"Mechanical journeyman\" or \"journeyman\" means any person\n\nother than a contractor or apprentice who engages in mechanical\n\nwork;\n\n8. \"Mechanical apprentice\" or \"apprentice\" means any person\n\nsixteen (16) years of age or older whose principal occupation is\n\nlearning mechanical work on the job under the direct supervision of\n\na journeyman or contractor;\n\n9. \"Mechanical firm\" means any corporation, partnership,\n\nassociation, proprietorship, limited liability company, or other\n\nbusiness entity which plans or engages, or offers to engage, in\n\nmechanical work for another within this state;\n\n10. \"Mechanical work\" means the installation, maintenance,\n\nrepair, or renovation, in whole or in part, of any heating system,\n\nexhaust system, cooling system, mechanical refrigeration system or\n\nventilation system or any equipment or piping carrying chilled\n\nwater, air for ventilation purposes, or natural gas, or the\n\ninstallation, maintenance, repair, or renovation of process piping\n\nused to carry any liquid, substance, or material, including steam\n\nand hot water used for space heating purposes not under the\n\njurisdiction of the Department of Labor other than minor repairs to\n\nsuch systems;\n\n11. \"Refrigeration system\" means the installation, repairing and\n\nservicing of a system employing a fluid which normally is vaporized\n\nand liquefied in an air conditioning system, food preservation\n\nmeasure or manufacturing process;\n\n12. \"Sheet metal\" means the erection, installation and\n\nrepairing of all ferrous or nonferrous duct work and all other\n\nmaterials used in all air conditioning and exhaust systems;\n\n13. \"Temporary mechanical journeyman\" means any person other\n\nthan a person permanently licensed as a mechanical journeyman or\n\ncontractor in this state who meets the temporary licensure\n\nrequirements of Section 1850.8A of this title; and\n\n14. \"Variance and Appeals Board\" means the Oklahoma State\n\nMechanical Installation Code Variance and Appeals Board.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6b9551f797cdd12a2549f90b49b48bb0acdac54f7b1fa2c26b9b8c3f221da91c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1850.17","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1850.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
