There is hereby established the Committee of Mechanical\n\nExaminers, which shall consist of five (5) members. All members\n\nshall be citizens of the United States and shall be residents of\n\nthis state. Members shall hold office for terms of two (2) years or\n\nuntil their successors have been appointed and qualified.\n\nB. Members of the Committee shall be appointed as follows:\n\n1. Two members shall be appointed by the President Pro Tempore\n\nof the Senate and shall be mechanical journeymen with five (5)\n\nyears' actual experience in mechanical work as journeymen.\n\nBeginning January 1, 2003, as the terms of the members serving on\n\nthe Committee pursuant to this paragraph expire, subsequent members\n\nshall be appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,\n\nunless after thirty (30) days from expiration an appointment is not\n\nmade, then the member shall be appointed by the Construction\n\nIndustries Board;\n\n2. Two members shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House\n\nof Representatives and shall be mechanical contractors with five (5)\n\nyears' actual experience in mechanical work as contractors.\n\nBeginning January 1, 2003, as the terms of the members serving on\n\nthe Committee pursuant to this paragraph expire, subsequent members\n\nshall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives,\n\nunless after thirty (30) days from expiration an appointment is not\n\nmade, then the member shall be appointed by the Construction\n\nIndustries Board; and\n\n3. One member shall be a lay member appointed by the\n\nConstruction Industries Board; provided, the person serving in this\n\nposition on January 1, 2002, may elect to continue to serve until\n\nthe end of the term of office and until a successor has been\n\nappointed and qualified.\n\nC. Any vacancy on the Committee shall be filled for the\n\nunexpired term within thirty (30) days in the manner in which that\n\nposition was originally filled. Members may be removed for\n\nmisconduct, incompetence, or neglect of duty.\n\nD. A majority of the Committee shall constitute a quorum for\n\nthe transaction of business, and the Committee shall elect a chair\n\nfrom its number. Each member shall receive travel expenses in\n\naccordance with the provisions of the State Travel Reimbursement\n\nAct. The Committee shall meet at least quarterly to conduct\n\nexaminations, and special meetings may be called by the chair or the\n\nBoard.\n\nE. The Committee shall:\n\n1. Assist and advise the Board on all matters pertaining to the\n\nformation of rules pursuant to the provisions of the Mechanical\n\nLicensing Act;\n\n2. Assist and advise the Board on the examinations for\n\napplicants for licenses as a mechanical contractor or journeyman and\n\non all matters relating to the licensing of mechanical contractors\n\nand mechanical journeymen and the registering of mechanical\n\napprentices; and\n\n3.
