Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1925.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"For purposes of the Marital and Family Therapist Licensure Act:\n\n1. \"Advertise\" means, but is not limited to, the issuing or\n\ncausing to be distributed any card, sign, or device to any person;\n\nor the causing, permitting or allowing any sign or marking on or in\n\nany building or structure, or in any newspaper or magazine or in any\n\ndirectory, or on radio or television, or by advertising by any other\n\nmeans designed to secure public attention;\n\n2. \"Board\" means the State Board of Behavioral Health\n\nLicensure;\n\n3. \"Licensed marital and family therapist\" means a person\n\nholding a current license issued pursuant to the provisions of the\n\nMarital and Family Therapist Licensure Act;\n\n4. \"Marital and family therapy\" means the assessment, diagnosis\n\nand treatment of disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or\n\nbehavioral, within the context of marital and family systems.\n\nMarital and family therapy involves the professional application of\n\nfamily systems theories and techniques in the delivery of services\n\nto individuals, marital pairs, and families for the purpose of\n\ntreating such disorders;\n\n5. \"Person\" means any individual, firm, corporation,\n\npartnership, organization or body politic;\n\n6. \"Practice of marital and family therapy\" means the rendering\n\nof professional marital and family therapy services to individuals,\n\nfamily groups and marital pairs, singly or in groups, whether such\n\nservices are offered directly to the general public or through\n\norganizations either public or private, for a fee, monetary or\n\notherwise;\n\n7. \"Recognized educational institution\" means a regionally\n\naccredited college or university recognized by the United States\n\nDepartment of Education;\n\n8. \"Use a title or description of\" means to hold oneself out to\n\nthe public as having a particular status by means of stating on\n\nsigns, mailboxes, address plates, stationery, announcements, calling\n\ncards or other instruments of professional identification;\n\n9. \"Licensed marital and family therapist candidate\" means a\n\nperson whose application for licensure has been accepted and who is\n\nunder supervision for licensure as set forth in Section 1925.6 of\n\nthis title; and\n\n10. \"Executive Director\" means the Executive Director of the\n\nState Board of Behavioral Health Licensure.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8c31f1a1a1c55f924b82b6c14e1b27d6c5edee5c3d33185a9e7d9c6bc0f1b526","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1925.18","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1925.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
