Applications for a license to practice as a licensed marital\n\nand family therapist shall be made to the State Board of Behavioral\n\nHealth Licensure in writing. Such applications shall be on a form\n\nand in a manner prescribed by the Board. The application shall be\n\naccompanied by the fee required by Section 1925.18 of this title\n\nwhich shall be retained by the Board and not returned to the\n\napplicant.\n\nB. Each applicant for a license to practice as a licensed\n\nmarital and family therapist shall:\n\n1. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;\n\n2. Not have engaged in, nor be engaged in, any practice or\n\nconduct which would be a grounds for revoking, suspending or placing\n\non probation a license under Section 1925.15 of this title; and\n\n3. Otherwise comply with the rules and regulations promulgated\n\nby the Board pursuant to the provisions of the Marital and Family\n\nTherapist Licensure Act.\n\nC. In addition to the qualifications specified by the\n\nprovisions of subsection B of this section any person applying for a\n\nlicense after September 1, 1991, to practice as a licensed marital\n\nand family therapist shall have the following educational and\n\nexperience qualifications:\n\n1. A master's degree or a doctoral degree in marital and family\n\ntherapy, or a content-equivalent degree as defined by the Board;\n\n2. Successful completion of two (2) calendar years of work\n\nexperience in marital and family therapy following receipt of a\n\nqualifying degree, under supervision in accordance with standards\n\nestablished by the Board; and\n\n3. An applicant applying for a license after September 1, 1991,\n\nshall also be required to pass a written or oral examination or both\n\nwritten and oral examination administered by the Board if, at the\n\ndiscretion of the Board, such examination is deemed necessary in\n\norder to determine the applicant's qualifications for the practice\n\nof marital and family therapy.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"96e5b78cb84da461068b4d784477669f1c1ddb7337942cdff190189ed794cf0e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1925.5","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1925.7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
