A professional specialty designation area may be established\n\nby the State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure upon receipt of a\n\npetition signed by fifteen qualified persons who are currently\n\nlicensed as licensed behavioral practitioners, who have acquired at\n\nleast sixty (60) semester hours, to increase to seventy-five (75)\n\nsemester hours on and after January 1, 2008, of graduate credit in\n\nbehavioral science or psychology-related course work from a\n\nregionally accredited college or university, and who meet the\n\nrecognized minimum standards as established by appropriate\n\nnationally recognized certification agencies; provided, however, if\n\na nationally recognized certification does not exist, the Board may\n\nestablish minimum standards for specialty designations.\n\nB. Upon receipt of credentials from the appropriate\n\ncertification agency, the Board may grant the licensed behavioral\n\npractitioner the appropriate specialty designation. The licensed\n\nbehavioral practitioner may attain specialty designation through\n\nexamination. A licensed behavioral practitioner shall not claim or\n\nadvertise a behavioral health specialty and shall not incorporate\n\nthe specialty designation into the professional title of such\n\nlicensed behavioral practitioner unless the qualifications and\n\ncertification requirements of that specialty have been met and have\n\nbeen approved by the Board and the appropriate certification agency.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"fcf972264e3967c11105a5fb2e3d81bb2b1ae85565aa04903d1f4dc519b8251d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1944","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1946"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
