Stat. tit. 59, § 59-2052","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Licensed Perfusionists Act:\n\n1. \"Board\" means the State Board of Examiners of Perfusionists;\n\n2. \"Extracorporeal circulation\" means the diversion of a\n\npatient's blood through a heart-lung machine or a similar device\n\nthat assumes the functions of the patient's heart, lungs or both;\n\n3. \"Licensed perfusionist\" means a person licensed to practice\n\nperfusion pursuant to the Oklahoma Licensed Perfusionists Act;\n\n4. \"Perfusion\" means the functions necessary for the support,\n\ntreatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiovascular,\n\ncirculatory and respiratory systems to ensure the safe management of\n\nphysiologic functions by monitoring the parameters of the systems\n\nunder an order and under the supervision of a licensed physician,\n\nincluding:\n\na. the use of extracorporeal circulation, cardiopulmonary\n\nsupport techniques, and other therapeutic and\n\ndiagnostic technologies,\n\nb. ventricular assistance, administration of\n\ncardioplegia, and isolated limb perfusion,\n\nc. the use of techniques involving blood management,\n\nadvanced life support, and other related functions,\n\nand\n\nd. in the performance of the acts described in this\n\nparagraph:\n\n(1) the administration of:\n\n(a) pharmacological and therapeutic agents, or\n\n(b) blood products or anesthetic agents through\n\nthe extracorporeal circuit or through an\n\nintravenous line as ordered by a physician,\n\n(2) the performance and use of:\n\n(a) anticoagulation analysis,\n\n(b) physiologic analysis,\n\n(c) blood gas and chemistry analysis,\n\n(d) hypothermia,\n\n(e) hyperthermia,\n\n(f) hemoconcentration, and\n\n(g) hemodilution,\n\n(3) the observation of signs and symptoms related to\n\nperfusion services, and the determination of\n\nwhether the signs and symptoms exhibit abnormal\n\ncharacteristics, and\n\n(4) the implementation of appropriate reporting and\n\nperfusion protocols, and changes in, or the\n\ninitiation of, emergency procedures;\n\n5. \"Perfusion protocol\" means perfusion-related policies and\n\nprotocols developed or approved by a licensed health facility or a\n\nphysician through collaboration with administrators, licensed\n\nperfusionists, and other health professionals; and\n\n6. \"Provisional licensed perfusionist\" means a person\n\nprovisionally licensed by this state pursuant to the Oklahoma\n\nLicensed Perfusionists Act.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"fe130409bd6c4377d06ef4edad0ace0990a271123e9d736acf5a62d386d646b8","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-2051","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-2053"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
