Stat. tit. 59, § 59-2306","heading":"Licensure and registration – Qualifications - Alternative","body":"qualification contracts - Licensure and registration without\n\nexamination.\n\nA. The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, with\n\nthe assistance of the Advisory Committee on Pedorthics, shall\n\nestablish qualifications for licensure and registration under the\n\nOklahoma Licensed Pedorthists Act. The Board shall also provide, as\n\nset forth herein, an alternative qualification licensure opportunity\n\nfor current practitioners in this state and for practitioners coming\n\ninto this state prior to November 1, 2004, who are unable to meet\n\nstandard qualifications.\n\nB. To be licensed to practice pedorthics according to standard\n\nqualifications, a person shall have passed all examinations required\n\nfor certification by an entity approved by the Board as a\n\ncertification organization for licensure purposes. Once licensed, a\n\npedorthist shall meet continuing education and annual renewal\n\nrequirements to maintain pedorthic licensure. The licensed\n\npedorthist shall also adhere to a code of ethics adopted by the\n\nBoard upon recommendation of the Committee. Absent another\n\nprofessional certification or credential, a licensed pedorthist\n\nshall not diagnose, prescribe, provide prognosis, perform invasive\n\nprocedures, or make, without a prescription, any custom or\n\ncustomized shoe, device, or modification addressing a medical\n\ncondition.\n\nC. To be licensed under alternative qualification a person\n\nshall:\n\n1. Pass an examination, which may be an available examination\n\ndesignated by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision\n\nor an examination developed by the Board; or\n\n2. Enter into an alternative qualification contract with the\n\nState Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, the conditions of\n\nwhich shall be based on the Board's evaluation of the applicant's\n\nexperience and the Board's determination of further experience\n\nneeded or other requirements to be met, which contract shall specify\n\na period of time not to exceed ten (10) years for completion of the\n\nfurther experience or requirements.\n\nD. Upon execution of the alternative qualification contract,\n\nthe Board shall issue a license and shall renew the license subject\n\nto the licensee’s making satisfactory progress as required by the\n\ncontract. Persons who satisfactorily complete the alternative\n\nqualification contract shall be thereafter considered as having met\n\nthe qualification necessary for license renewal.\n\nE. No person shall be permitted to enter into an alternative\n\nqualification contract after October 31, 2004. A person who has not\n\ndone so by October 31, 2004, shall not be issued a license to\n\npractice pedorthics without meeting standard qualifications.\n\nF. Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, a\n\nperson who has practiced full time during the three-year period\n\nimmediately preceding the effective date of this act in a pedorthic\n\nfacility as a pedorthist, may file an application with the Board\n\nwithin ninety (90) days from the effective date of this act for\n\npermission to continue to practice at his or her identified level of\n\npractice. The Board, after verifying the applicant’s work history\n\nand receiving payment of the application fee as established pursuant\n\nto this act, shall without examination of the applicant, issue the\n\napplicant a license or certificate of registration. For making\n\ninvestigations necessary to verify the work history, the Board may\n\nrequire that the applicant complete a questionnaire regarding the\n\nwork history and scope of practice. The Board shall take no more\n\nthan six (6) months to make the investigations necessary to verify\n\nthe work history. Applicants applying after the ninety-day\n\napplication period of this subsection has expired, shall meet the\n\nqualifications elsewhere set forth for standard or alternative\n\nqualification for licensure or for registration as determined by the\n\nBoard.\nork history and scope of practice.
