All applicants for licensure as an anesthesiologist\n\nassistant must submit an application as set forth in Section 5 of\n\nthis act. The applicant must submit two personalized and\n\nindividualized letters of recommendation from anesthesiologists.\n\nLetters of recommendation must be composed and signed by the\n\napplicant’s supervising physician, or, for recent graduates, the\n\nfaculty physician, and give details of the applicant’s clinical\n\nskills and ability. Each letter must be addressed to the State\n\nBoard of Medical Licensure and Supervision and must have been\n\nwritten no more than six (6) months prior to the filing of the\n\napplication for licensure.\n\nB. The applicant must have obtained a passing score on the\n\nexamination administered through the NCCAA. The passing score shall\n\nbe established by the NCCAA.\n\nC. The applicant must be certified in advanced cardiac life\n\nsupport.\n\nD. The applicant must submit notarized statements containing\n\nthe following information:\n\n1. Completion of three (3) hours of all Category I, American\n\nMedical Association Continuing Medical Education or American\n\nOsteopathic Association approved Category I-A continuing education\n\nrelated to the practice of osteopathic medicine or under osteopathic\n\nauspices which includes the topics of Human Immunodeficiency Virus\n\nand Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome: the disease and its\n\nspectrum of clinical manifestations; epidemiology of the disease;\n\nrelated infections including TB; treatment, counseling, and\n\nprevention; transmission from healthcare worker to patient and\n\npatient to healthcare worker; universal precautions and isolation\n\ntechniques; and legal issues related to the disease. If the\n\napplicant has not already completed the required continuing medical\n\neducation, upon submission of an affidavit of good cause, the\n\napplicant shall be allowed six (6) months to complete this\n\nrequirement;\n\n2. Completion of one (1) hour of continuing medical education\n\non domestic violence which includes information on the number of\n\npatients in that professional's practice who are likely to be\n\nvictims of domestic violence and the number who are likely to be\n\nperpetrators of domestic violence, screening procedures for\n\ndetermining whether a patient has any history of being either a\n\nvictim or a perpetrator of domestic violence, and instruction on how\n\nto provide such patients with information on, or how to refer such\n\npatients to, resources in the local community, such as domestic\n\nviolence centers and other advocacy groups, that provide legal aid,\n\nshelter, victim counseling, batterer counseling, or child protection\n\nservices, and which is approved by any state or federal government\n\nagency, or nationally affiliated professional association, or any\n\nprovider of Category I or II American Medical Association Continuing\n\nMedical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved\n\nCategory I-A continuing education related to the practice of\n\nosteopathic medicine or under osteopathic auspices. Home study\n\ncourses approved by the above agencies shall be acceptable. If the\n\napplicant has not already completed the required continuing medical\n\neducation, upon submission of an affidavit of good cause, the\n\napplicant shall be allowed six (6) months to complete this\n\nrequirement; and\n\n3. Completion of two (2) hours of continuing medical education\n\nrelating to prevention of medical errors which includes a study of\n\nroot cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient\n\nsafety, and which is approved by any state or federal government\n\nagency, or nationally affiliated professional association, or any\n\nprovider of Category I or II American Medical Association Continuing\n\nMedical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved\n\nCategory I-A continuing education related to the practice of\n\nosteopathic medicine or under osteopathic auspices.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8e1bb08340a842f7cf6d38300a22e4ebc9ae9fdc40a1899d65eac9ae14da29e0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-3205","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-3207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
