The Board of Dentistry may, without a clinical\n\nexamination, upon presentation of satisfactory credentials,\n\nincluding completion of all portions of the National Board Dental\n\nExamination, the dental hygiene National Boards and both Part I and\n\nPart II of the National Board examination for dentists, and under\n\nsuch rules as the Board may promulgate, issue a faculty license or\n\nfaculty specialty license to an applicant who:\n\na. is a graduate of a school of dentistry approved by the\n\nBoard and is licensed to practice dentistry in another\n\nstate or country,\n\nb. has graduated from an accredited dental program,\n\nc. successfully completes advanced training in a\n\nspecialty dental program approved by the Commission on\n\nDental Accreditation of the American Dental\n\nAssociation, or\n\nd. if applying for a hygiene faculty license, is a\n\ngraduate of an accredited dental hygiene program and\n\nis licensed to practice dental hygiene in another\n\nstate.\n\n2. A faculty license or faculty specialty license shall be\n\nissued only upon the request and certification of the dean of an\n\naccredited dental college or the program director of an accredited\n\ndental hygiene program located in this state that the applicant is a\n\nfull-time member of the teaching staff of that college or program.\n\n3. Within the first two (2) years of employment, the faculty\n\nlicense or faculty specialty license holder shall show proof of\n\npassing an appropriate clinical board examination, as provided in\n\nSection 328.21 of this title, recognized by the Board of Dentistry.\n\n4. A faculty license or faculty specialty license shall be\n\nvalid for one (1) year and may be renewed by the Board at the\n\nwritten request of the dean of an accredited dental program or the\n\ndirector of an accredited dental hygiene program.\n\n5. A faculty license or faculty specialty license shall\n\nautomatically expire when the license holder is no longer employed\n\nas a faculty member at the institution that requested the license.\n\n6. The holder of a faculty license or faculty specialty license\n\nshall be entitled to perform services and procedures in the same\n\nmanner as a person holding a license to practice dentistry or dental\n\nhygiene in this state, but all services and procedures performed by\n\nthe faculty license or faculty specialty license holder shall be\n\nwithout compensation other than that received in salary from a\n\nfaculty position or through faculty practice as authorized by the\n\nBoard. The holder of a faculty license or faculty specialty license\n\nshall be limited to practicing in the specialty area as designated\n\non the license. Such services and procedures shall be performed\n\nonly within the facilities of an accredited dental college or\n\naccredited dental hygiene program or within the facilities\n\ndesignated by the accredited dental college and teaching hospitals\n\napproved by the Board.\n\nB. The dean of an accredited dental or hygiene program may\n\npetition the Board to allow a faculty member to have a limited\n\nfaculty or research faculty permit, based on a showing of criteria\n\nthat the individual possesses specialty knowledge in a specific area\n\nthat would benefit the college or program. The holder of a limited\n\nfaculty or research faculty permit shall not have privileges to\n\nperform procedures in the faculty practice at the University of\n\nOklahoma College of Dentistry, but may oversee the student clinic.\n\nA limited faculty permit shall be valid for one (1) year and may be\n\nrenewed by the Board at the written request of the dean of an\n\naccredited dental program or the director of an accredited dental\n\nhygiene program.\n\nC. Upon request of the dean, the Board President may issue a\n\ndentist or hygienist licensed in another state or country a\n\ntemporary license pursuant to Section 328.23 of this title for the\ned by the Board at the written request of the dean of an\n\naccredited dental program or the director of an accredited dental\n\nhygiene program.\n\nC. Upon request of the dean, the Board President may issue a\n\ndentist or hygienist licensed in another state or country a\n\ntemporary license pursuant to Section 328.23 of this title for the\n\npurpose of attending, presenting or participating in a seminar or\n\nlive training in dental techniques or dental anesthesia, given at\n\nthe University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry to licensed dentists\n\nand hygienists for continuing education credits and students\n\nenrolled in the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. A\n\ntemporary permit issued for this purpose shall not exceed seven (7)\n\ndays and may not be issued to the same person more than four (4)\n\ntimes in a calendar year.\n\nD. Upon the request of the Oklahoma Dental Association\n\nPresident or the Oklahoma Dental Hygienist Association President,\n\nthe Board President may issue a dentist or a hygienist licensed in\n\nanother state a temporary license pursuant to Section 328.23 of this\n\ntitle for the purpose of presenting or participating in live patient\n\ndemonstrations presented by the Oklahoma Dental Association or\n\nOklahoma Dental Hygienist Association or other professional\n\norganizations approved by the Board at its annual meeting. A\n\ntemporary permit issued for this purpose shall not exceed four (4)\n\ndays per calendar year.\n\nE. Courses for expanded duties for dental assistants pursuant\n\nto the administrative rules of the Board may be taught in an online,\n\ninteractive online, in-classroom, lab or blended format. All\n\nexpanded-duty courses shall include a dentist or dental hygienist\n\nthat is employed full- or part-time by an educational program\n\napproved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and currently on\n\nfile with the Board.
