Stat. tit. 59, § 59-396.12b","heading":"Conducting funeral, persons authorized - Embalming,","body":"persons authorized - Transfer or removal of remains.\n\nA. Each funeral conducted within this state shall be under the\n\npersonal supervision of a duly licensed funeral director who holds a\n\nvalid license from the Oklahoma Funeral Board. A registered\n\napprentice may assist in conducting funerals. To conduct a funeral\n\nshall require the personal supervision of a licensed funeral\n\ndirector from the time of the first call until interment is\n\ncompleted. A funeral director conducting a funeral in this state\n\nshall ensure that the casket or other container holding the deceased\n\nhuman remains shall not incur any damage other than that which is\n\nnormally incurred in the burial or final disposition of human\n\nremains.\n\nB. The embalming of dead human remains shall require the\n\npresence and the direct supervision of a duly licensed embalmer,\n\nhowever, a licensed registered apprentice embalmer may perform the\n\nembalming of a dead human provided said registered apprentice\n\nembalmer is under the direct supervision of a duly licensed\n\nembalmer.\n\nC. Nothing in this section regarding the conduct of funerals or\n\npersonal supervision of a licensed director, a registered apprentice\n\nembalmer, or licensed embalmer, shall apply to persons related to\n\nthe deceased by blood or marriage. Further, nothing in this section\n\nshall apply or in any manner interfere with the duties of any state\n\nofficer or any employee of a local state institution.\n\nD. Dead human remains shall be picked up on first call only\n\nunder the direction and supervision of a licensed funeral director\n\nor embalmer. Dead human remains may be picked up or transferred\n\nwithout the personal supervision of a funeral director or embalmer;\n\nprovided however, any inadvertent contact with family members or\n\nother persons shall be restricted to identifying the employer to the\n\nperson, arranging an appointment with the employer for any person\n\nwho indicates a desire to make funeral arrangements for the deceased\n\nand making any disclosure to the person that is required by any\n\nfederal or state regulation.
