It shall be unlawful for any person to directly or\n\nindirectly engage in the practice of architecture in this state or\n\nuse the title \"Architect\", \"Registered or Licensed Architect\",\n\n\"Architectural Designer\", or display or use any words, letters,\n\nfigures, titles, signs, cards, advertisements, or other symbols or\n\ndevices indicating or tending to indicate that such person is an\n\narchitect or is practicing architecture, unless the person is\n\nlicensed under the provisions of this act. No person shall aid or\n\nabet any person, not licensed under the provisions of this act, in\n\nthe practice of architecture.\n\nB. Every person applying to the Board for an initial license\n\nshall submit an application accompanied by the fee established in\n\naccordance with the rules of the Board, with satisfactory evidence\n\nthat such person holds an accredited professional degree in\n\narchitecture or has completed such other education as the Board\n\ndeems equivalent to an accredited professional degree and with\n\nsatisfactory evidence that such person has completed such practical\n\ntraining in architectural work as the Board requires. If an\n\napplicant is qualified in accordance with this subsection, the Board\n\nshall, by means of a written examination, examine the applicant on\n\nsuch technical and professional subjects as are prescribed by the\n\nBoard. None of the examination materials shall be considered public\n\nrecords. The Board may exempt from such written examination an\n\napplicant who holds a certification issued by the National Council\n\nof Architectural Registration Boards or its successor or in any case\n\nthe Board decides the interest of the public will be served and the\n\nperson is determined to be qualified and competent by equivalent\n\nstandards for education, training and examination.\n\nThe Board shall adopt as its own rules governing practical\n\ntraining and education and may use those guidelines published from\n\ntime to time by the National Council of Architectural Registration\n\nBoards or its successor. The Board may also adopt the examinations\n\nand grading procedures of the National Council of Architectural\n\nRegistration Boards or its successor and the accreditation decisions\n\nof the National Architectural Accrediting Board or its successor.\n\nThe Board shall issue its license to each applicant who is found to\n\nbe of good moral character and who satisfies the requirements set\n\nforth in this section and the Board's current rules. Such license\n\nshall be effective upon issuance.\n\nC. Pursuant to this act and such rules as it may have adopted,\n\nthe Board shall have the power to issue licenses without requiring\n\nan examination to persons who have been licensed to practice\n\narchitecture in states other than the State of Oklahoma, in a\n\nterritory of the United States, in the District of Columbia, or in a\n\ncountry other than the United States; provided that the state or\n\ncountry has a similar reciprocal provision to authorize the issuance\n\nof licenses to persons who have been licensed in this state. If a\n\nperson who has been licensed in a state other than the State of\n\nOklahoma, or in a territory of the United States, in the District of\n\nColumbia, or in a country other than the United States complies with\n\nthis act and the rules of the Board, the secretary-treasurer, acting\n\nin the exercise of his or her discretion or upon the order of the\n\nBoard in the exercise of its discretion and upon the receipt of the\n\nstated payment to the Board pursuant to the rules of the Board,\n\nshall issue to the person a license to practice architecture in this\n\nstate.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6960e0aaacbed9104514e631f04d6457e874c5f91214e34c2b9a57f13d1951e9","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-46.7v2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-46.9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
