Certification as a Surveyor Intern. Passing of the NCEES\n\nFundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination and completion of one of\n\nthe following shall be considered as minimum evidence that the\n\napplicant is qualified for certification as a surveyor intern:\n\n1. Graduating from a surveying program of four (4) years or\n\nmore approved by the Board and providing proof of graduation;\n\n2. Graduating from a surveying program of two (2) years or more\n\napproved by the Board, providing proof of graduation;\n\n3. Graduating from a program of two (2) years or more approved\n\nby the Board which shall include the Board-approved core curriculum,\n\ncompleted with a minimum grade of C, and providing proof of\n\ngraduation;\n\n4. Graduating from a program of four (4) years or more approved\n\nby the Board which shall include the Board-approved core curriculum,\n\ncompleted with a minimum grade of C, and providing proof of\n\ngraduation; or\n\n5. Completing sixty (60) college credit hours approved by the\n\nBoard which shall include the Board-approved core curriculum,\n\ncompleted with a minimum grade of C, and providing proof of\n\nsuccessful completion of the required college credit hours. No\n\napplication will be accepted after January 1, 2026, for an applicant\n\nqualifying under this paragraph.\n\nB. Licensure as a Professional Surveyor. To be eligible for\n\nlicensure as a professional surveyor, an individual shall meet all\n\nof the following requirements:\n\n1. Satisfy the education and experience criteria set forth in\n\nthis act;\n\n2. Pass the applicable examinations set forth in this act; and\n\n3. Submit references acceptable to the Board as described in\n\nBoard rules.\n\nC. Initial Licensure as a Professional Surveyor. An individual\n\nmeeting the education requirements pursuant to subsection A of this\n\nsection for a surveyor intern shall meet the following surveying\n\nexperience requirements as described in Board rules, which shall\n\ninclude combined office and field experience satisfactory to the\n\nBoard on projects of a grade and character which indicate to the\n\nBoard the applicant may be competent to practice surveying:\n\n1. An individual meeting the experience requirements in\n\nparagraph 1 of subsection A of this section: four (4) years of\n\ntotal experience including two (2) years which shall follow the date\n\nof the conferment of the degree; or\n\n2. An individual meeting the experience requirements in\n\nparagraph 2 or 3 of subsection A of this section: five (5) years of\n\ntotal experience including two (2) years which shall follow the date\n\nof the conferment of the degree; or\n\n3. An individual meeting the experience requirements in\n\nparagraph 4 of subsection A of this section: five (5) years of\n\ntotal experience.\n\nUpon completion of the education and experience requirements,\n\npassing the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination, the\n\nNCEES Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS) examination, and the\n\nOklahoma Law and Surveying (OLS) examination, the applicant shall be\n\nlicensed as a professional surveyor, if otherwise qualified.\n\nD. Comity Licensure for a Professional Surveyor. The following\n\nshall be considered as minimum evidence satisfactory to the Board\n\nthat the applicant is qualified for licensure by comity as a\n\nprofessional surveyor:\n\nAn individual holding a license to engage in the practice of\n\nsurveying issued by a proper authority of any state or jurisdiction,\n\nbased on requirements that do not conflict with the provisions of\n\nthis act, and possessing credentials that are, in the judgment of\n\nthe Board, of a standard not lower than that specified in the\n\napplicable licensure act in effect in this state at the time such\n\ncertificate was issued may, upon application, which may include a\n\nNCEES Record, be licensed upon passing an examination or\n\nexaminations of such duration as established by the Board, which\njudgment of\n\nthe Board, of a standard not lower than that specified in the\n\napplicable licensure act in effect in this state at the time such\n\ncertificate was issued may, upon application, which may include a\n\nNCEES Record, be licensed upon passing an examination or\n\nexaminations of such duration as established by the Board, which\n\nshall include questions on laws, procedures and practices pertaining\n\nto surveying in Oklahoma.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"79b95e8619e0bb49de28f039e9f53cc44243ba3be75244a5eb71e3bbd454f263","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-475.12a","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-475.12c"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
