Stat. tit. 59, § 59-506","heading":"Decisions of Board - Suspension and reinstatement -","body":"Narcotics conviction.\n\nA. If it is the decision of the State Board of Medical\n\nLicensure and Supervision, after considering all the testimony\n\npresented, that the defendant is guilty as charged, the Board shall\n\nrevoke the license of the defendant, and the defendant's rights to\n\npractice medicine and surgery. The Board, however, may suspend a\n\nlicense, during which suspension the holder of such suspended\n\nlicense shall not be entitled to practice medicine and surgery\n\nthereunder. If during suspension, the defendant practiced medicine\n\nor surgery or has been guilty of any act of unprofessional conduct,\n\nas defined by the Oklahoma Allopathic Medical and Surgical Licensure\n\nand Supervision Act, the Board may revoke the license of such\n\nlicensee or place the licensee upon probation for any period of time\n\nnot less than one (1) year, nor more than five (5) years, or on\n\nsecond offense place the licensee on probation for an indefinite\n\nperiod of time, during which time the licensee's conduct will be\n\nkept under observation. The Board, furthermore, may impose on the\n\ndefendant, as a condition of any suspension or probation, a\n\nrequirement that the defendant attend and produce evidence of\n\nsuccessful completion of a specific term of education, residency, or\n\ntraining in enumerated fields and/or institutions as ordered by the\n\nBoard based on the facts of the case. The education, residency, or\n\ntraining shall be at the expense of the defendant. The Board may\n\nalso impose other disciplinary actions as provided for in Section\n\n509.1 of this title. At the end of any term of suspension imposed\n\nby the Board, the applicant for reinstatement shall show to the\n\nBoard successful completion of all conditions and requirements\n\nimposed by the Board and demonstrate eligibility for reinstatement.\n\nB. Immediately upon learning that a licensee has been convicted\n\nof a felonious violation of a state or federal narcotics law, the\n\nExecutive Director of the Board shall summarily suspend the license\n\nand assign a hearing date for the matter to be presented to the\n\nBoard. Immediately upon learning that a licensee is in violation of\n\na Board-ordered probation, the Executive Director of the Board may\n\nsummarily suspend the license based on imminent harm to the public\n\nand assign a hearing date for the matter to be presented at the next\n\nscheduled Board meeting.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8dfd904a05cc662714d841b599d266620437ef4892cafae9baaf372fbbc8b638","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-505","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-508"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
