There is hereby created the Physician Assistant Committee,\n\nwhich shall be composed of nine (9) members. Five members of the\n\nCommittee shall be physician assistants appointed by the State Board\n\nof Medical Licensure and Supervision from a list of qualified\n\nindividuals submitted by the Oklahoma Academy of Physician\n\nAssistants. One member shall be a physician appointed by the Board\n\nfrom its membership. One member shall be a physician appointed by\n\nthe Board from a list of qualified individuals submitted by the\n\nOklahoma State Medical Association and who is not a member of the\n\nBoard. One member shall be a physician appointed by the State Board\n\nof Osteopathic Examiners from its membership. One member shall be a\n\nphysician appointed by the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners from\n\na list of qualified individuals submitted by the Oklahoma\n\nOsteopathic Association and who is not a member of said board.\n\nB. The term of office for each member of the Committee shall be\n\nfive (5) years.\n\nC. The Committee shall meet at least quarterly. At the initial\n\nmeeting of each calendar year, the Committee members shall elect a\n\nchair from the physician assistant members. The chair or his or her\n\ndesignee shall represent the Committee at all meetings of the Board.\n\nFive members shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of conducting\n\nofficial business of the Committee.\n\nD. The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision is\n\nhereby granted the power and authority to promulgate rules, which\n\nare in accordance with the provisions of Section 519.1 et seq. of\n\nthis title, governing the requirements for licensure as a physician\n\nassistant, as well as to establish standards for training, approve\n\ninstitutions for training, and regulate the standards of practice of\n\na physician assistant after licensure, including the power of\n\nrevocation of a license.\n\nE. The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision is\n\nhereby granted the power and authority to investigate all\n\ncomplaints, hold hearings, subpoena witnesses and initiate\n\nprosecution concerning violations of Section 519.1 et seq. of this\n\ntitle. When such complaints involve physicians licensed by the\n\nState Board of Osteopathic Examiners, the State Board of Osteopathic\n\nExaminers shall be officially notified of such complaints.\n\nF. 1. The Committee shall advise the Board on all matters\n\npertaining to the practice of physician assistants.\n\n2. The Committee shall review and make recommendations to the\n\nBoard on all applications for licensure as a physician assistant and\n\nall applications to practice which shall be approved by the Board.\n\nWhen considering applicants for licensure, to establish standards of\n\ntraining or approve institutions for training, the Committee shall\n\ninclude the Director, or designee, of all Physician Assistant\n\neducational programs conducted by institutions of higher education\n\nin the state as members.\n\n3.
