A licensed electrologist shall consist of all persons who\n\nare currently licensed by the State Board of Electrology and all\n\npersons over twenty-one (21) years of age who have satisfactorily\n\npassed all examinations before the State Board of Medical Licensure\n\nand Supervision. All applicants for licensure as electrologists\n\nshall be required to furnish to the Board the following evidence:\n\n1. Have successfully completed a curriculum of study\n\nestablished by the Board; and\n\n2. Have completed an internship or preplanned professional\n\nexperience program approved by the Board.\n\nB. To qualify for a license, an applicant shall pass an\n\nexamination prepared by the Board. The examination, as authorized\n\nby the Registered Electrologist Act, shall be in the English\n\nlanguage. The examination shall include the subjects required in\n\nsubsection A of this section as well as dermatology, hygiene,\n\nsterilization, electricity and electrolysis (theory and practice).\n\nC. If based on rules and criteria established by the Board, the\n\nexaminee successfully passes the examination, the examinee shall be\n\nentitled to receive from the Board a license to practice\n\nelectrolysis for the remainder of that calendar year. Each license\n\nshall be signed by the chairperson of the Committee or designee and\n\nthe secretary-treasurer of the Board and shall bear the seal of the\n\nBoard.\n\nD. The Board may issue a license to an applicant from another\n\nstate who has met the requirements established by the Registered\n\nElectrologist Act. The applicant to be licensed in this state shall\n\nprovide proof of licensure in good standing in another state at the\n\ntime of making application for licensure in this state.\n\nE. The Board may establish continuing education requirements to\n\nfacilitate the maintenance of current practice skills of all persons\n\nlicensed pursuant to the Registered Electrologist Act.\n\nF. The Board shall meet at least three times per calendar year\n\nfor the purpose of examining applicants for licensure and training,\n\nand transacting other business as may be necessary. The meetings\n\nshall be held at the office of the Board.\n\nG. Every person licensed pursuant to the Registered\n\nElectrologist Act who desires to continue the practice of\n\nelectrolysis shall annually, on or before the 31st day of December\n\nof each year, make application for renewal of the license and shall\n\npay fees established by the Board.\n\nH. If any person fails to renew his or her license within\n\nthirty (30) days from the date same becomes due, the license of such\n\nperson shall become inactive and, in order to have such license\n\nreinstated, it shall be necessary for such person to apply to the\n\nBoard as provided in the Registered Electrologist Act and to meet\n\nthe requirements established by the Board for reinstatement.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b74dde1672af669ea685a7403f0154c8541473f345dff8bc0762dc7962b24d0f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-536.5","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-536.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
