There is hereby established the Therapeutic Recreation\n\nCommittee to assist the State Board of Medical Licensure and\n\nSupervision in conducting examinations for applicants and to advise\n\nthe Board on all matters pertaining to the licensure, education, and\n\ncontinuing education of therapeutic recreation specialists and the\n\npractice of therapeutic recreation or recreation therapy.\n\nB. 1. The Therapeutic Recreation Committee shall consist of\n\nfive (5) members who shall be appointed by the State Board of\n\nMedical Licensure and Supervision as follows:\n\na. three members shall, upon initial appointment, be\n\nqualified persons who have been actively practicing\n\ntherapeutic recreation in this state for at least\n\nthree (3) years, provided, their successors shall be\n\nlicensed therapeutic recreation specialists, and\n\nb. two members shall be lay persons.\n\n2. The professional members of the Committee shall be appointed\n\nfor staggered terms of one (1), two (2) and three (3) years,\n\nrespectively. Terms of office of each appointed member shall expire\n\nJuly 1 of that year in which they expire regardless of the calendar\n\ndate when such appointments were made. Subsequent appointments\n\nshall be made for a term of three (3) years or until successors are\n\nappointed and qualified.\n\na. The lay members shall be appointed for staggered terms\n\nof office which will expire July 1, 2010, and July 1,\n\n2011. Thereafter, members appointed to these\n\npositions shall serve for terms of three (3) years or\n\nuntil successors are appointed and qualified.\n\nb. Vacancies shall be filled by the Board in the same\n\nmanner as the original appointment.\n\n3. Members of the Committee shall be reimbursed for all actual\n\nand necessary expenses incurred in the performance of duties\n\nrequired by the Therapeutic Recreation Practice Act in accordance\n\nwith the provisions of the State Travel Reimbursement Act.\n\n4. The Committee shall meet at least quarterly. At the initial\n\nmeeting of the Committee, members shall elect a chair. The chair\n\nshall represent the Committee at all meetings of the Board. Three\n\nmembers of the Committee shall constitute a quorum for the purpose\n\nof conducting official business of the Committee.\n\nC. The Committee shall have the power and duty to:\n\n1. Advise the Board on all matters pertaining to the licensure,\n\neducation, and continuing education requirements for and practice of\n\ntherapeutic recreation or recreation therapy in this state; and\n\n2.
