Stat. tit. 59, § 59-545.1","heading":"PA Licensure Compact — Purpose","body":"In order to strengthen access to medical services and in\n\nrecognition of the advances in the delivery of medical services, the\n\nparticipating states of the PA Licensure Compact have allied in\n\ncommon purpose to develop a comprehensive process that complements\n\nthe existing authority of state licensing boards to license and\n\ndiscipline physician assistants, or PAs, and seeks to enhance the\n\nportability of a license to practice as a PA while safeguarding the\n\nsafety of patients. The Compact allows medical services to be\n\nprovided by PAs via the mutual recognition of the licensee's\n\nqualifying license by other Compact participating states. The\n\nCompact also adopts the prevailing standard for PA licensure and\n\naffirms that the practice and delivery of medical services by the PA\n\noccurs where the patient is located at the time of the patient\n\nencounter and therefore requires the PA to be under the jurisdiction\n\nof the state licensing board where the patient is located.
