Stat. tit. 59, § 59-545.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Compact:\n\n1. \"Adverse action\" means any administrative, civil, equitable,\n\nor criminal action permitted by a state's laws which is imposed by a\n\nlicensing board or other authority against a PA license or license\n\napplication or Compact privilege such as license denial, censure,\n\nrevocation, suspension, probation, monitoring of the licensee, or\n\nrestriction on the licensee's practice;\n\n2. \"Compact privilege\" means the authorization granted by a\n\nremote state to allow a licensee from another participating state to\n\npractice as a PA to provide medical services and other licensed\n\nactivity to a patient located in the remote state under the remote\n\nstate's laws and regulations;\n\n3. \"Conviction\" means a finding by a court that an individual\n\nis guilty of a felony or misdemeanor offense through adjudication or\n\nentry of a plea of guilt or no contest to the charge by the\n\noffender;\n\n4. \"Criminal background check\" means the submission of\n\nfingerprints or other biometric-based information for a license\n\napplicant for the purpose of obtaining that applicant's criminal\n\nhistory record information, as defined in 28 C.F.R., Section\n\n20.3(d), from the state's criminal history record repository as\n\ndefined in 28 C.F.R., Section 20.3(f);\n\n5. \"Data system\" means the repository of information about\n\nlicensees, including, but not limited to, license status and adverse\n\nactions, which is created and administered under the terms of the\n\nCompact;\n\n6. \"Executive committee\" means a group of directors and ex\n\nofficio individuals elected or appointed pursuant to paragraph 2 of\n\nsubsection F of Section 7 of this Compact;\n\n7. \"Impaired practitioner\" means a PA whose practice is\n\nadversely affected by health-related conditions that impact his or\n\nher ability to practice;\n\n8. \"Investigative information\" means information, records, or\n\ndocuments received or generated by a licensing board pursuant to an\n\ninvestigation;\n\n9. \"Jurisprudence requirement\" means the assessment of an\n\nindividual's knowledge of the laws and rules governing the practice\n\nof a PA in a state;\n\n10. \"License\" means current authorization by a state, other\n\nthan authorization pursuant to a Compact privilege, for a PA to\n\nprovide medical services, which would be unlawful without current\n\nauthorization;\n\n11. \"Licensee\" means an individual who holds a license from a\n\nstate to provide medical services as a PA;\n\n12. \"Licensing board\" means any state entity authorized to\n\nlicense and otherwise regulate PAs;\n\n13. \"Medical services\" means health care services provided for\n\nthe diagnosis, prevention, treatment, cure, or relief of a health\n\ncondition, injury, or disease, as defined by a state's laws and\n\nregulations;\n\n14. \"Model Compact\" means the model for the PA Licensure\n\nCompact on file with The Council of State Governments or other\n\nentity as designated by the Commission;\n\n15. \"Participating state\" means a state that has enacted the\n\nCompact;\n\n16. \"PA\" means an individual who is licensed as a physician\n\nassistant in a state. For purposes of the Compact, any other title\n\nor status adopted by a state to replace the term \"physician\n\nassistant\" shall be deemed synonymous with \"physician assistant\" and\n\nshall confer the same rights and responsibilities to the licensee\n\nunder the provisions of the Compact at the time of its enactment;\n\n17. \"PA Licensure Compact Commission\", \"Compact Commission\", or\n\n\"Commission\" means the national administrative body created pursuant\n\nto subsection A of Section 7 of this Compact;\n\n18. \"Qualifying license\" means an unrestricted license issued\n\nby a participating state to provide medical services as a PA;\n\n19. \"Remote state\" means a participating state where a licensee\n\nwho is not licensed as a PA is exercising or seeking to exercise the\n\nCompact privilege;\nor\n\n\"Commission\" means the national administrative body created pursuant\n\nto subsection A of Section 7 of this Compact;\n\n18. \"Qualifying license\" means an unrestricted license issued\n\nby a participating state to provide medical services as a PA;\n\n19. \"Remote state\" means a participating state where a licensee\n\nwho is not licensed as a PA is exercising or seeking to exercise the\n\nCompact privilege;\n\n20. \"Rule\" means a regulation promulgated by an entity that has\n\nthe force and effect of law;\n\n21. \"Significant investigative information\" means investigative\n\ninformation that a licensing board, after an inquiry or\n\ninvestigation that includes notification and an opportunity for the\n\nPA to respond if required by state law, has reason to believe is not\n\ngroundless and, if proven true, would indicate more than a minor\n\ninfraction; and\n\n22. \"State\" means any state, commonwealth, district, or\n\nterritory of the United States.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"dbc06df4ffa9204473149b05cc50e34aa4782df976953b3d31f825acfebf591f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-545.13","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-545.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
