The rules regarding authorization for a certified\n\nregistered nurse anesthetist to order, select, obtain and administer\n\ndrugs, promulgated by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing pursuant to\n\nparagraph 10 of Section 567.3a of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes,\n\nshall provide for establishment of a Formulary Advisory Council to\n\ndevelop and submit to the Board recommendations for an inclusionary\n\nformulary that lists drugs or categories of drugs that may be\n\nordered, selected, obtained or administered by certified registered\n\nnurse anesthetists authorized by the Board to order, select, obtain\n\nand administer drugs.\n\n2. Such Formulary Advisory Council shall also develop and\n\nsubmit to the Board recommendations for practice-specific standards\n\nfor ordering, selecting, obtaining and administering drugs for a\n\ncertified registered nurse anesthetist authorized by the Board to\n\norder, select, obtain and administer drugs pursuant to the\n\nprovisions of the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.\n\n3. The Board shall either accept or reject the recommendations\n\nof the Council. No amendments to the recommended inclusionary\n\nformulary may be made by the Board without the approval of the\n\nFormulary Advisory Council.\n\nB. 1. The Formulary Advisory Council shall be composed of five\n\n(5) members as follows:\n\na. two certified registered nurse anesthetists, appointed\n\nby the Oklahoma Association of Nurse Anesthetists\n\nlocated in this state,\n\nb. two anesthesiologists, appointed by the Oklahoma\n\nSociety of Anesthesiologists located in this state,\n\nand\n\nc. a hospital-based pharmacist appointed by the Oklahoma\n\nPharmaceutical Association located in this state.\n\n2. All professional members of the Formulary Advisory Council\n\nshall be in active clinical practice at least fifty percent (50%) of\n\nthe time within their defined area of specialty.\n\n3. a. Members of the Formulary Advisory Council shall serve\n\nat the pleasure of their appointing authority for a\n\nterm of three (3) years. The terms of the members\n\nshall be staggered. Members of the Council may serve\n\nbeyond the expiration of their term of office until a\n\nsuccessor is appointed by the original appointing\n\nauthority. A vacancy on the Council shall be filled\n\nfor the balance of the unexpired term by the original\n\nappointing authority.\n\nb. Members of the Council shall elect a chair and a vice-\n\nchair from among the membership of the Council. Three\n\nmembers shall constitute a quorum for the transaction\n\nof business.\n\nC. The Council shall recommend and the Board shall approve and\n\nimplement an initial inclusionary formulary on or before January 1,\n\n1998.
