There is hereby created the State Board of Osteopathic\n\nExaminers.\n\nB. The State Board of Osteopathic Examiners shall consist of\n\neight (8) examiners appointed by the Governor, two of whom may be\n\nlay persons. The remaining examiners shall be regularly licensed\n\nosteopathic physicians in good standing in this state who have been\n\nso engaged for a period of at least five (5) years immediately prior\n\nto their appointment. The osteopathic physician examiners shall be\n\nappointed by the Governor from a list of not less than six names\n\nsubmitted to the Governor by the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association\n\nannually, and any present member of the State Board of Osteopathic\n\nExaminers shall be appointed to fill out the unexpired term. All\n\nappointments made to the Board shall be for terms of seven (7)\n\nyears. In the event of a vacancy brought about for any reason, the\n\npost so vacated shall be filled from a list of not less than six\n\nnames submitted by the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association.\n\nC. The mission of the Board shall be to:\n\n1. Safeguard public health by ensuring the highest standards of\n\nosteopathic medical practice and ethical standards;\n\n2. Uphold the integrity of the profession through continuing\n\neducation, diligent licensing and regulation, and continuous\n\noversight of osteopathic physicians and surgeons; and\n\n3. Promote the principles of osteopathic medicine, enhance the\n\naccess and quality of patient care, particularly in rural and\n\nunderserved areas, and protect the residents of this state through\n\neffective governance, sound public policy, and enforcement of\n\nethical and professional standards.\n\nD. The Board shall make and adopt all necessary rules relating\n\nto the enforcement of the provisions of the Oklahoma Osteopathic\n\nMedicine Act. Each Board member shall receive the daily per diem\n\nrate for state employees. Travel expenses allowed under the State\n\nTravel Reimbursement Act shall also be provided to Board members\n\ntraveling more than fifty (50) miles to the location of all regular\n\nand special Board meetings.\n\nE.
