All persons legally licensed to practice osteopathic\n\nmedicine in this state, on or before the first day of July of each\n\nyear, shall apply to the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, on\n\nforms furnished thereby, for a renewal certificate of registration\n\nentitling such licensee to practice osteopathic medicine and surgery\n\nin Oklahoma during the next ensuing fiscal year.\n\nB. The State Board of Osteopathic Examiners may prescribe\n\nthrough rule the necessary information required relevant to a\n\nlicensee’s professional activity including, but not limited to:\n\n1. Any action taken against the licensee for acts or conduct\n\nsimilar to acts or conduct described in the Oklahoma Osteopathic\n\nMedicine Act as grounds for disciplinary action;\n\n2. Any adverse judgment, settlement, or award against the\n\nlicensee arising from a professional liability claim;\n\n3. The licensee’s voluntary surrender of or voluntary\n\nlimitation on any license or authorization to practice medicine and\n\nsurgery in any jurisdiction including military, public health, and\n\nforeign;\n\n4. Any denial to the licensee of a license or authorization to\n\npractice medicine and surgery by any jurisdiction including\n\nmilitary, public health, or foreign;\n\n5. The licensee’s voluntary resignation from the medical staff\n\nof any health care institution or voluntary limitation of the\n\nlicensee’s staff privileges at such an institution if that action\n\noccurred while the licensee was under formal or informal\n\ninvestigation by the institution or a committee thereof for any\n\nreason related to alleged medical incompetence, unprofessional or\n\nunethical conduct, or mental or physical impairment;\n\n6. The licensee’s voluntary resignation or withdrawal from a\n\nnational, state, or county medical society, association, or\n\norganization if that action occurred while the licensee was under\n\nformal or informal investigation or review by that body for any\n\nreason related to alleged medical incompetence, unprofessional or\n\nunethical conduct, or mental or physical impairment;\n\n7. Whether the licensee has had any health conditions that may\n\naffect his or her ability to practice safely. Disclosures shall\n\nfocus on current impairments that directly affect clinical\n\ncompetence or adversely affect ability to practice medicine in a\n\ncompetent, ethical, and professional manner, not on past or managed\n\nhealth conditions that do not impair professional duties; and\n\n8. The licensee’s completion of continuing medical education or\n\nother forms of professional maintenance or evaluation, including\n\nspecialty board certification or recertification, during the\n\nprevious registration period.\n\nC. 1. Each application shall be accompanied by a renewal fee\n\nin an amount sufficient to cover the cost and expense incurred by\n\nthe State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, for a renewal of the\n\nperson’s certificate to practice osteopathic medicine.\n\n2. The Board may provide for the late renewal of a license upon\n\npayment of a late fee in accordance with Board rules.\n\nD. 1. In addition to the payment of the annual renewal fee,\n\neach licensee applying for a renewal of the certificate shall\n\nfurnish to the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners proof that the\n\nperson has attended at least two (2) days of the annual educational\n\nprogram conducted by the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, or its\n\nequivalent, as determined by the Board, in the fiscal year preceding\n\nthe application for a renewal; provided, the Board may excuse the\n\nfailure of the licensee to attend the educational program in the\n\ncase of illness or other unavoidable casualty rendering it\n\nimpossible for the licensee to have attended the educational program\n\nor its equivalent.\n\n2. The Board shall require that the licensee receive not less\n\nthan one (1) hour of education in pain management or one (1) hour of\nn for a renewal; provided, the Board may excuse the\n\nfailure of the licensee to attend the educational program in the\n\ncase of illness or other unavoidable casualty rendering it\n\nimpossible for the licensee to have attended the educational program\n\nor its equivalent.\n\n2. The Board shall require that the licensee receive not less\n\nthan one (1) hour of education in pain management or one (1) hour of\n\neducation in opioid use or addiction each year preceding an\n\napplication for renewal of a license, unless the licensee has\n\ndemonstrated to the satisfaction of the Board that the licensee does\n\nnot currently hold a valid federal Drug Enforcement Administration\n\nregistration number. Such education may be held at the annual\n\neducational program referenced in paragraph 1 of this subsection.\n\nE. The secretary of the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners\n\nshall send a written notice to every person holding a legal\n\ncertificate to practice osteopathic medicine in this state, at least\n\nthirty (30) days prior to the first day of July each year, directed\n\nto the last-known address of the licensee, notifying the licensee\n\nthat it will be necessary for the licensee to pay the renewal\n\nlicense fee as herein provided, and proper forms shall accompany the\n\nnotice upon which the licensee shall make application for renewal of\n\nthe certificate.\n\nF. The licensee shall attest to the veracity of the application\n\nform for license renewal. Failure to report fully and correctly\n\nshall be grounds for disciplinary action by the Board.\n\nG. The Board shall establish a system for reviewing renewal\n\nforms.
