This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Oklahoma\n\nInterventional Pain Management and Treatment Act”.\n\nB. As used in this section:\n\n1. “Chronic pain” means a pain state which is subacute,\n\npersistent and intractable;\n\n2. “Fluoroscope” means a radiologic instrument equipped with a\n\nfluorescent screen on which opaque internal structures can be viewed\n\nas moving shadow images formed by the differential transmission of\n\nX-rays throughout the body; and\n\n3. “Interventional pain management” means the practice of\n\nmedicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain,\n\nthrough the use of such techniques as:\n\na. ablation of targeted nerves,\n\nb. percutaneous precision needle placement within the\n\nspinal column with placement of drugs such as local\n\nanesthetics, steroids, analgesics in targeted areas of\n\nthe spinal column, or\n\nc. surgical techniques, such as laser or endoscopic\n\ndiskectomy, intrathecal infusion pumps and spinal cord\n\nstimulators.\n\nC. It shall be unlawful to practice or offer to practice\n\ninterventional pain management in this state unless such person has\n\nbeen duly licensed under the provisions of the Oklahoma Allopathic\n\nMedical and Surgical Licensure and Supervision Act or the Oklahoma\n\nOsteopathic Medicine Act.\n\nD. Nothing in this section shall be construed to forbid the\n\nadministration of lumbar intra-laminar epidural steroid injections\n\nor peripheral nerve blocks by a certified registered nurse\n\nanesthetist when requested to do so by a physician and under the\n\nsupervision of an allopathic or osteopathic physician licensed in\n\nthis state and under conditions in which timely on-site consultation\n\nby such allopathic or osteopathic physician is available.\n\nE.
