Stat. tit. 59, § 59-698.3","heading":"State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners - Purpose -","body":"Conflicts of interest - Liability.\n\nA. The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is hereby\n\nre-created, to continue until July 1, 2030, in accordance with the\n\nprovisions of the Oklahoma Sunset Law, to regulate and enforce the\n\npractice of veterinary medicine in this state in accordance with the\n\nOklahoma Veterinary Practice Act.\n\nB. 1. The duty of determining a person's initial and\n\ncontinuing qualification and fitness for the practice of veterinary\n\nmedicine, of proceeding against the unlawful and unlicensed practice\n\nof veterinary medicine and of enforcing the Oklahoma Veterinary\n\nPractice Act is hereby delegated to the Board. That duty shall be\n\ndischarged in accordance with the Oklahoma Veterinary Practice Act\n\nand other applicable statutes.\n\n2. a. It is necessary that the powers conferred on the Board\n\nby the Oklahoma Veterinary Practice Act be construed\n\nto protect the health, safety and welfare of the\n\npeople of this state.\n\nb. No member of the Board, acting in that capacity or as\n\na member of any Board committee, shall participate in\n\nthe making of any decision or the taking of any action\n\naffecting such member's own personal, professional or\n\npecuniary interest, or that of a person related to the\n\nmember within the third degree by consanguinity,\n\nmarriage or adoption or of a business or professional\n\nassociate.\n\nc. With advice of legal counsel, the Board shall adopt\n\nand annually review a conflict of interest policy to\n\nenforce the provisions of the Oklahoma Veterinary\n\nPractice Act.\n\nC. The practice of veterinary medicine is a privilege granted\n\nby the people of this state acting through their elected\n\nrepresentatives. It is not a natural right of individuals. In the\n\ninterest of the public, and to protect the public, it is necessary\n\nto provide laws and rules to govern the granting and subsequent use\n\nof the privilege to practice veterinary medicine. The primary\n\nresponsibility and obligation of the Board is to protect the public\n\nfrom the unprofessional, improper, incompetent and unlawful practice\n\nof veterinary medicine.\n\nD.
