Except as otherwise provided by the Physical Therapy\n\nPractice Act, all licenses shall expire on January 31 of each year.\n\nA license may be renewed during the month of January of each year\n\nupon:\n\na. application,\n\nb. evidence of satisfactory completion of a program of\n\ncontinuing education or of alternative requirements,\n\nas required by the State Board of Medical Licensure\n\nand Supervision pursuant to subsection B of this\n\nsection, and\n\nc. payment of fees.\n\n2. Applications for renewal of licensure shall be sent by the\n\nBoard to all licensed physical therapists and physical therapist\n\nassistants at their last-known address. Failure to renew a license\n\nthree (3) months after notification shall effect a forfeiture of the\n\nlicense granted pursuant to the provisions of the Physical Therapy\n\nPractice Act. Upon recommendation of the Board, a lapsed license\n\nmay be revived upon the payment of all unpaid registration fees and\n\npursuant to such rules as may be promulgated by the Board.\n\n3. A physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who\n\nfails to apply for a renewal of a license for five (5) years may\n\nrenew the license by complying with the provisions of the Physical\n\nTherapy Practice Act relating to the issuance of an original\n\nlicense.\n\nB. For physical therapists and physical therapist assistants,\n\nthe Board shall establish by rule the requirements for:\n\n1. A program of continuing education; and\n\n2. Alternative requirements to establish continuing competence\n\nto practice.\n\nThe Board shall also establish by rule the minimum hours of\n\ncontinuing education needed to satisfy these requirements.
