There is hereby established a Physical Therapy Committee to\n\nassist the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision in\n\nconducting examinations for applicants and to advise the Board on\n\nall matters pertaining to the licensure, education, and continuing\n\neducation of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants\n\nand the practice of physical therapy.\n\nB. 1. The Physical Therapy Committee shall consist of five (5)\n\nmembers who shall be appointed by the State Board of Medical\n\nLicensure and Supervision as follows:\n\na. three members shall be licensed physical therapists,\n\nb. one member shall be a licensed physical therapist\n\nassistant, and\n\nc. one member shall be a lay person.\n\n2. Except for the lay appointee, each appointee shall be\n\nselected from a list of three persons submitted for each vacancy by\n\nthe Oklahoma Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association.\n\na. Members serving on the Committee on the effective date\n\nof this act may continue serving until expiration of\n\ntheir terms of office and may be reappointed if\n\neligible pursuant to the provisions of this act.\n\nMembers of the original Physical Therapy Committee\n\nshall have been appointed for staggered terms of one\n\n(1), two (2), and three (3) years, respectively.\n\nTerms of office of each appointed member shall expire\n\nJuly 1 of that year in which they expire regardless of\n\nthe calendar date when such appointments were made.\n\nSubsequent appointments shall be made for a term of\n\nthree (3) years or until their successors are\n\nappointed and qualified.\n\nb. The lay member and physical therapist assistant member\n\ninitially appointed to fill the two new positions\n\ncreated pursuant to this act shall be appointed for\n\nstaggered terms of office which will expire July 1,\n\n1998, and July 1, 1999. Thereafter, members appointed\n\nto these positions shall serve for terms of three (3)\n\nyears or until their successors are appointed and\n\nqualified.\n\nc. Vacancies shall be filled by the Board in the same\n\nmanner as the original appointment.\n\n3. Each member of the Committee shall be a resident of this\n\nstate. The physical therapist and physical therapist assistant\n\nmembers shall be licensed pursuant to the Physical Therapy Practice\n\nAct for at least three (3) years prior to appointment to the\n\nCommittee. The lay member shall not be a physical therapist or a\n\nlicensed health care professional or be related by adoption, blood,\n\nor marriage within the third degree of consanguinity to a physical\n\ntherapist or a licensed health care professional.\n\n4. Members of the Committee shall be reimbursed for all actual\n\nand necessary expenses incurred in the performance of duties\n\nrequired by the Physical Therapy Practice Act in accordance with the\n\nprovisions of the State Travel Reimbursement Act.\n\nC. The Committee shall have the power and duty to:\n\n1. Assist in selecting and conducting examinations for\n\nlicensure, and in determining which applicants successfully passed\n\nsuch examination;\n\n2. Advise the Board on all matters pertaining to the licensure,\n\neducation, and continuing education requirements for, and practice\n\nof physical therapy in this state;\n\n3. Maintain a current list of approved schools of physical\n\ntherapy and physical therapist assistants; and\n\n4.
