Stat. tit. 59, § 59-887.5","heading":"Powers and duties of Board","body":"The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision shall have\n\nthe power and duty to:\n\n1. Promulgate rules necessary to implement the provisions of\n\nthe Physical Therapy Practice Act;\n\n2. Determine, as recommended by the Committee, the\n\nqualifications of applicants for licensure, conduct all\n\nexaminations, and determine which applicants successfully passed\n\nsuch examinations;\n\n3. Issue a license to each applicant who passes the examination\n\nin accordance with standards promulgated by the Board pursuant to\n\nthe Physical Therapy Practice Act, and who is otherwise in\n\ncompliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act. A license shall\n\nalso be issued to persons who qualify for such license pursuant to\n\nthe provisions of Sections 887.9 and 887.10 of this title. Said\n\nlicenses shall be subject to annual renewal as provided by the\n\nPhysical Therapy Practice Act;\n\n4. Make such investigations and inspections as are necessary to\n\nensure compliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act and the\n\nrules and regulations of the Board promulgated pursuant to the act;\n\n5. Conduct hearings as required by the provisions of the\n\nAdministrative Procedures Act, Section 250 et seq. of Title 75 of\n\nthe Oklahoma Statutes;\n\n6. Report to the district attorney having jurisdiction or the\n\nAttorney General any act committed by any person which may\n\nconstitute a misdemeanor pursuant to the provisions of the Physical\n\nTherapy Practice Act;\n\n7. Initiate prosecution and civil proceedings;\n\n8. Suspend, revoke or deny the license of any physical\n\ntherapist and physical therapist assistant for violation of any\n\nprovisions of the Physical Therapy Practice Act or rules and\n\nregulations promulgated by the Board pursuant to this act;\n\n9. Maintain a record listing the name of each physical\n\ntherapist and physical therapist assistant licensed in this state;\n\n10. Compile a list of physical therapists and physical\n\ntherapist assistants licensed to practice in this state. Said list\n\nshall be available to any person upon application to the Board and\n\nthe payment of such fee as determined by the Board for the\n\nreasonable expense thereof pursuant to the provisions of the\n\nPhysical Therapy Practice Act;\n\n11. Make such expenditures and employ such personnel as it may\n\ndeem necessary for the administration of the provisions of the\n\nPhysical Therapy Practice Act; and\n\n12. Conduct state and national criminal history record checks\n\nas determined by the Board through the Oklahoma State Bureau of\n\nInvestigation pursuant to Section 150.9 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes and Federal Bureau of Investigation in accordance with 28\n\nU.S.C., Section 534 and 34 U.S.C., Section 40316; provided, however,\n\nthat reports from such record checks shall not be shared with\n\nentities outside of this state.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8c7eef6c90ca0c595771daaddeaa8d5926555cb8376a92d7d6465c6150d840b5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-887.4","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-887.6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
