Stat. tit. 59, § 59-888.3","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Occupational Therapy Practice Act:\n\n1. \"Occupational therapy\" is a health profession for which\n\npractitioners provide assessment, treatment, and consultation\n\nthrough the use of purposeful activity with individuals who are\n\nlimited by or at risk of physical illness or injury, psycho-social\n\ndysfunction, developmental or learning disabilities, poverty and\n\ncultural differences or the aging process, in order to maximize\n\nindependence, prevent disability, and maintain health. Specific\n\noccupational therapy services include but are not limited to the use\n\nof media and methods such as instruction in daily living skills and\n\ncognitive retraining, facilitating self-maintenance, work and\n\nleisure skills, using standardized or adapted techniques, designing,\n\nfabricating, and applying selected orthotic equipment or selective\n\nadaptive equipment with instructions, using therapeutically applied\n\ncreative activities, exercise, and other media to enhance and\n\nrestore functional performance, to administer and interpret tests\n\nwhich may include sensorimotor evaluation, psycho-social\n\nassessments, standardized or nonstandardized tests, to improve\n\ndevelopmental skills, perceptual and motor skills, and sensory\n\nintegrative function, and to adapt the environment for the\n\nhandicapped. These services are provided individually, in groups,\n\nvia telehealth or through social systems;\n\n2. \"Occupational therapist\" means a person licensed to practice\n\noccupational therapy pursuant to the provisions of the Occupational\n\nTherapy Practice Act;\n\n3. \"Occupational therapy assistant\" means a person licensed to\n\nprovide occupational therapy treatment under the general supervision\n\nof a licensed occupational therapist;\n\n4. \"Occupational therapy aide\" means a person who assists in\n\nthe practice of occupational therapy and whose activities require an\n\nunderstanding of occupational therapy, but do not require the\n\ntechnical or professional training of an occupational therapist or\n\noccupational therapy assistant;\n\n5. \"Board\" means the State Board of Medical Licensure and\n\nSupervision;\n\n6. \"Person\" means any individual, partnership, unincorporated\n\norganization, or corporate body, except only an individual may be\n\nlicensed pursuant to the provisions of the Occupational Therapy\n\nPractice Act;\n\n7. \"Committee\" means the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Advisory\n\nCommittee;\n\n8. \"Telehealth\" means the use of electronic information and\n\ntelecommunications technologies to support and promote access to\n\nclinical health care, patient and professional health-related\n\neducation, public health and health administration; and\n\n9. \"Telerehabilitation\" or \"teletherapy\" means the delivery of\n\nrehabilitation and habilitation services via information and\n\ncommunication technologies (ICT), also commonly referred to as\n\n\"telehealth\" technologies.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"1f929d7f97ec084784c63a18f1609aa22799392cab363fa6aece3d1166177783","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-888.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-888.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
