Stat. tit. 61, § 61-213","heading":"Public building energy and environmental performance","body":"program.\n\nThe purpose of this section is to promote effective energy and\n\nenvironmental standards for the construction, renovation, and\n\nmaintenance of state buildings which will improve the capacity of\n\nthe state to design, build, and operate high-performance buildings\n\nthus creating new jobs, contributing to economic growth, and\n\nincreasing energy independence. To accomplish the objectives of\n\nthis section, the state shall adopt planning and construction\n\nstandards for state buildings that:\n\n1. Conserve energy consumption and optimize the energy\n\nperformance of new building construction;\n\n2. Increase the demand for environmentally preferable building\n\nmaterials, finishes, and furnishings;\n\n3. Reduce the dependence of the state on imported sources of\n\nenergy through buildings that conserve energy and utilize local and\n\nrenewable energy sources;\n\n4. Protect and restore the natural resources of the state by\n\navoiding development of inappropriate building sites;\n\n5. Reduce the burden on municipal water supply and treatment by\n\nreducing potable water consumption;\n\n6. Reduce waste generation and manage waste through recycling\n\nand diversion from landfill disposal;\n\n7. Establish life-cycle cost analysis as the appropriate and\n\nmost efficient analysis to determine the optimal performance level\n\nof a building project;\n\n8. Ensure that the systems of each building project are\n\ndesigned, installed, and tested to perform according to the design\n\nintent and operational needs of the building; and\n\n9. Authorize the Office of Management and Enterprise Services\n\nto pursue ENERGY STAR designation from the United States\n\nEnvironmental Protection Agency to further demonstrate the energy\n\nefficiency of a public building project.","path":["OK Code","Title 61"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os61.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0318255a7ca23b8703a2cfa019da54ec974cf95302413ac43a79339e2c06cf84","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-61-61-212","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-61-61-215"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
