Stat. tit. 62, § 62-275.1","heading":"Human Services warrants and checks - Duplication and","body":"destruction - Permanent copies maintained.\n\nAll warrants or checks issued by the Commission for Human\n\nServices and the State Treasurer, in payment of assistance to the\n\nneedy, aged persons, blind or dependent children, shall be\n\nmicrofilmed or duplicated in a manner acceptable to the Archives and\n\nRecords Commission, provided further that the Department of Human\n\nServices is hereby authorized and directed to destroy said warrants,\n\nby burning, shredding, chemical process or any other method which\n\nwill insure the complete destruction thereof, after microfilm or\n\nother copies are made thereof. Any redeemed warrant or check that\n\nhas been microfilmed, imaged or duplicated in a manner acceptable to\n\nthe Archives and Records Commission shall be destroyed after a\n\nperiod of time consistent with banking industry standards for\n\nchecks. The Archives and Records Commission, with the assistance of\n\nthe State Treasurer, shall survey financial institutions to\n\ndetermine the industry standard for retention of paper checks after\n\nthey have been duplicated in a manner consistent with federal law\n\nand industry practice.
