The State Treasurer is hereby authorized and empowered to\n\nissue a replacement warrant or bond in lieu of any warrant or bond\n\nthat has been lost or destroyed; provided, that no replacement\n\nwarrant or bond shall be issued until an affidavit setting forth the\n\nfacts as to the loss or destruction of said original warrant or bond\n\nhas been filed with the Director of the Office of Management and\n\nEnterprise Services.\n\nB. The Director and the State Treasurer shall maintain\n\nappropriate records in their offices to prevent, as nearly as\n\nreasonably possible, the state from mistakenly issuing any\n\nreplacement warrant or bond.\n\nC. Such records shall include a stop payment order against the\n\noriginal warrant to cancel the original warrant.\n\nD. For such lost or destroyed miscellaneous warrants, the\n\nDirector of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services shall\n\ncancel the original warrant record and process a replacement warrant\n\nagainst the original disbursement claim when possible, or otherwise\n\nshall transfer to the Canceled Warrant Fund the payable amount of\n\nlost or destroyed warrants on which payment has been stopped\n\npursuant to the provisions of this section from the fund and account\n\nagainst which said warrant had been drawn and issue a replacement\n\nfrom the Canceled Warrant Fund.\n\nE. For lost or destroyed payroll warrants, the Director of the\n\nOffice of Management and Enterprise Services shall issue all payroll\n\nreplacement warrants pursuant to the provisions of this section from\n\nthe Canceled Warrant Fund. The Director shall allow the original\n\npayroll warrant record to cancel by statute and shall transfer to\n\nthe Canceled Warrant Fund the payable amount to cover the lost or\n\ndestroyed warrants on which payment has been stopped pursuant to the\n\nprovisions of this section from the fund and account against which\n\nthe warrant had been drawn.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 8067.
