Stat. tit. 62, § 62-372","heading":"Fraudulent claims - Liability of public officers","body":"Every officer of the state and of any county, city, town or\n\nschool district, who shall hereafter order or direct the payment of\n\nany money or transfer of any property belonging to the state or to\n\nsuch county, city, town or school district, in settlement of any\n\nclaim or in pursuance of any unauthorized, unlawful or fraudulent\n\ncontract or agreement made, for the state or any such county, city,\n\ntown or school district, by any officer thereof, known to such\n\nofficer to be fraudulent or void, and every person, having notice of\n\nthe facts, with whom such unauthorized, unlawful or fraudulent\n\ncontract shall have been made, or to whom, or for whose benefit such\n\nmoney shall be paid or such transfer of property shall be made,\n\nshall be jointly and severally liable to the state, county, city,\n\ntown or school district affected, for triple the amount of all such\n\nsums of money so paid, or triple the value of property so\n\ntransferred, as a penalty, to be recovered at the suit of the proper\n\nofficers of the state or such county, city, town or school district,\n\nor of any resident taxpayer thereof, pursuant to Section 373 of this\n\ntitle; provided, however, no action for personal liability shall lie\n\nagainst any such officer for a transaction approved in good-faith\n\nreliance on advice of legal counsel for the public entity\n\nauthorizing the transaction or which has been submitted to a court\n\nof competent jurisdiction for determination of legality.","path":["OK Code","Title 62"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os62.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"498bef50b8119b1ab7a4ab62c04b5d7f75c5606f431256d3c36d28d6657e7a62","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-371","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-373"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
