Stat. tit. 62, § 62-442","heading":"Courthouse - Use of sinking fund for construction - Tax","body":"levy - Special courthouse fund - Warrants against fund.\n\nThe board of county commissioners is hereby authorized to use\n\nfor the purpose of erecting or rebuilding a county courthouse or a\n\nsuperior court building at such points in the county as the board\n\nmay deem necessary and to furnish and equip such building, and for\n\nsuch purpose, said board is authorized to use any or all of the\n\nunassigned portions of the sinking fund of the county derived from\n\npenalties, interest or forfeitures accrued or to accrue and in\n\naddition thereto, is authorized to make and enter a levy of not to\n\nexceed one (1) mill of tax in any one (1) year and under the\n\nexisting laws such tax shall be annually added to the funds herein\n\nprovided for and which said levy may be equal to but not to exceed\n\nthe constitutional limitation of eight (8) mills; provided further,\n\nthat there is hereby authorized to be created by resolution a\n\ncourthouse fund of any such county which shall be known and\n\ndesignated as a special courthouse fund and all monies as aforesaid\n\nshall be converted into and become a part of said special fund and\n\nshall be irrevocably pledged to the payment of the costs of the\n\nconstruction or rebuilding or repair of any such courthouse. Such\n\nboard of county commissioners is further authorized to issue time\n\nwarrants against said special fund which shall run serially and\n\nshall bear interest not to exceed six percent (6%), per annum, which\n\ninterest shall be payable annually; when such warrants have been\n\nissued, then the levies so made and the accumulations of penalties,\n\ninterests and forfeitures which constitute the fund from which such\n\ntime warrants are payable; provided, that this act shall not affect\n\nor impair the provisions of Chapter 209, Session Laws of Oklahoma,\n\n1919, being otherwise known as Chapter 80, Session Laws of Oklahoma,\n\n1921.","path":["OK Code","Title 62"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os62.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b8db91c48b9340813e123a8c1bf069303b028185eed65dd19d83a2b98531f8b9","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-438","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-443"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
