Stat. tit. 62, § 62-475","heading":"Registration - Treasurer's duty - Effect - Notice of","body":"\"funds on hand\" - Interest.\n\nIt is hereby made the duty of the treasurer of the county, city,\n\nor town to whom a warrant, certificate of indebtedness or bond is\n\ndirected for payment, to register the same by entering the number,\n\nthe date, the name of the payee, the fund upon which it is drawn and\n\nthe amount, and by writing on the warrant or evidence of\n\nindebtedness, the date of registration, his name and official title.\n\nAll warrants, certificates of indebtedness or bonds, shall be\n\nregistered in the order in which they have been issued, and when so\n\nregistered shall be returned to the clerk of the county, city or\n\ntown. No warrant, certificate of indebtedness or bond shall be a\n\nvalid charge until registered by the treasurer of the municipality\n\nissuing the same as herein provided. Nothing herein shall prevent\n\nthe appointment and compensation from time to time by the governing\n\nbody of any county, city, or town of a registrar or transfer agent\n\nto effect the transfer of ownership or change of payee of any\n\ncertificate of indebtedness or bonds issued by such county, city, or\n\ntown and to maintain books and records relating thereto. Nothing in\n\nthis section shall prohibit any governing board from using automated\n\nrecordkeeping procedures or methods and recording different\n\ninformation in lieu of the information specified in this section,\n\nprovided the information required in this section can be accessed.\n\nWarrants and all evidences of indebtedness shall draw a rate of\n\ninterest to be fixed by the governing board not to exceed the\n\nmaximum rate provided by Section 498.1 of this title from and after\n\nits registration by the treasurer, unless there is cash on hand to\n\npay the same when presented for registration and then the treasurer\n\nshall make the same “payable” after registering the same, and no\n\ninterest shall be computed or allowed thereon when paid. When the\n\ntreasurer has money on hand to pay warrants duly registered, the\n\ntreasurer shall publish notice thereof in one issue of a newspaper,\n\nor by posting five notices in public places, and interest shall\n\ncease on the warrants after thirty (30) days from the date of the\n\npublication or posting of said notice.","path":["OK Code","Title 62"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os62.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"413a6ae4d50143584cd0b696174e33dc59bd371457c0176f8630bf0abb33a6a5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-474","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-62-62-476"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
