The Chief Medical Officer shall serve at the discretion and\n\npleasure of the State Commissioner of Health.\n\nB. The Chief Medical Officer must:\n\n1. Be a resident of the State of Oklahoma; and\n\n2. Be licensed and in good standing as a medical doctor or\n\ndoctor of osteopathy in Oklahoma.\n\nC. With the approval of the State Commissioner of Health, the\n\nChief Medical Officer may maintain a clinical practice to retain\n\nexpertise and remain current in his or her specialized field.\n\nD. The Chief Medical Officer may:\n\n1. Advise the Commissioner and agency staff in all matters\n\nrelated to public health and effective delivery of public health\n\nservices;\n\n2. Provide professional judgment, medical and public health\n\nguidance to the Commissioner and other department leadership to\n\nensure that health policy and program resource allocation decisions\n\nare medically appropriate, that timely prevention actions are taken,\n\nand that policy reflects sound medical and public health principles\n\nand priorities;\n\n3. Actively participate in the development of the agency\n\nstrategic goals and the state public health improvement plan; and\n\n4.
