Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-1527","heading":"Legislative intent","body":"The State Legislature by adopting this act intends to preempt\n\nany other regulation promulgated to control smoking in public places\n\nand to standardize laws that governmental subdivisions may adopt to\n\ncontrol smoking. Cities and towns may enact and enforce laws\n\nprohibiting and penalizing conduct under provisions of this act, but\n\nthe provisions of such laws shall be the same as provided in this\n\nact and the enforcement provisions under such laws shall not be more\n\nstringent than those of this act; provided, however, that cities and\n\ntowns shall be authorized to enact laws restricting smoking on\n\nproperties owned or operated by the respective governing bodies.\n\nNothing in this section shall be construed as to prevent county or\n\nmunicipal governments, at the discretion of the respective governing\n\nbodies, from prohibiting smoking in or on property owned or operated\n\nby the respective governing bodies.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c1d08e293081fe9b96992af91b1ed5976e6727a43e4d2820df4afa255957c1d4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-1526.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-1528"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
