Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-1918.1","heading":"Dispensation of certain drugs in bubble pack units -","body":"Pilot program.\n\nA. The purpose of this section is to reduce expensive and\n\nunnecessary wastage of excess drugs dispensed to residents of\n\nnursing homes. In order to determine if the use of bubble pack\n\nunits and the return and reissuance of unadulterated drugs is cost-\n\neffective and administratively efficient there is hereby established\n\na pilot program for dispensing and returning anti-ulcer and\n\nantiarthritics in bubble pack units. The pilot program shall\n\nterminate January 1, 1998.\n\nB. For the purpose of this study, upon filling a prescription\n\nfor residents of nursing facilities, a pharmacist shall dispense\n\nanti-ulcer and antiarthritics in bubble pack units when available.\n\nC. Any prescription for anti-ulcer and antiarthritics dispensed\n\nby a pharmacist in bubble pack units for a resident of a nursing\n\nhome that is unused and is unadulterated may be returned for credit\n\nto the issuing pharmacy. Such medication may be dispensed by the\n\npharmacist to other nursing home patients. The Oklahoma Health Care\n\nAuthority in concert with the State Board of Pharmacy shall\n\npromulgate permanent rules that will provide for the implementation\n\nof this subsection. The permanent rules shall be promulgated by the\n\nBoard pursuant to the provisions of the Administrative Procedures\n\nAct.\n\nD. The Oklahoma State Board of Health in concert with the State\n\nBoard of Pharmacy shall promulgate rules to ensure the integrity of\n\nthe collection of unadulterated anti-ulcer and antiarthritics within\n\nnursing facilities. The rules shall provide for a drug manifest\n\nform that shall accompany each shipment of unadulterated anti-ulcer\n\nand antiarthritics in bubble pack units from the nursing facility to\n\nthe dispensing pharmacy.\n\nE. The State Board of Health shall report the findings of the\n\npilot program to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the\n\nPresident Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Governor by April 1,\n\n1998.\n\nF. For purposes of this section:\n\n1. \"Bubble pack units\" means a sealed unit of use container\n\npackaged by a pharmacy or pharmaceutical manufacturer that bears the\n\nname of the drug, expiration date, and the name of the pharmacy\n\ndispensing the drug;\n\n2. \"Nursing facility\" means a facility as defined by Section 1-\n\n1902 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes;\n\n3. \"Unadulterated\" means medications that are properly stored,\n\nlabeled and not past the expiration date; and\n\n4. \"Antiarthritics\" means legend nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory\n\ndrugs.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7fb1661e0b85fc82d4890fdd40691543060908b037729944e4798fcda9a5e4c5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-1918","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-1918.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
