Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-1925","heading":"Minimum standards for facilities","body":"The State Department of Health shall prescribe minimum standards\n\nfor facilities. These standards shall regulate:\n\n1. Location and construction of the facility, including\n\nplumbing, heating, lighting, ventilation, and other physical\n\nconditions which shall ensure the health, safety and comfort of\n\nresidents and protection from fire hazards;\n\n2. Number and qualifications of all personnel, including\n\nmanagement and nursing personnel, having responsibility for any part\n\nof the care given to residents; specifically, the Department shall\n\nestablish staffing ratios for facilities which shall specify the\n\nnumber of staff hours per resident of care that are needed for\n\nprofessional nursing care for various types of facilities or areas\n\nwithin facilities;\n\n3. All sanitary conditions within the facility and its\n\nsurroundings, including water supply, sewage disposal, food\n\nhandling, and general hygiene, which shall ensure the health and\n\ncomfort of residents;\n\n4. Diet related to the needs of each resident based on sound\n\nnutritional practice and on recommendations which may be made by the\n\nphysicians attending the resident;\n\n5. Equipment essential to the health and welfare of the\n\nresidents;\n\n6. Minimum levels of supplies including, but not limited to,\n\nfood and other perishables;\n\n7. Minimum financial solvency standards to ensure the operation\n\nof facilities; and\n\n8.
