Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-1990.4","heading":"Statewide coordinator – Adoption of rules – Issuance","body":"of directives.\n\nThe Commissioner of Public Safety is the statewide coordinator\n\nof the silver alert system and shall:\n\n1. Adopt rules and issue directives as necessary to ensure\n\nproper implementation of the alert. The rules and directives shall\n\ninclude:\n\na. the procedures to be used by a local law enforcement\n\nagency to verify whether a senior citizen:\n\n(1) is missing,\n\n(2) is believed to be suffering from dementia or\n\nother cognitive impairment, and\n\n(3) is one whose disappearance is believed to pose a\n\ncredible risk to the health and safety of the\n\nmissing person,\n\nb. the criteria for local law enforcement agencies to\n\nconsider in circumstances in which a missing person\n\nmay not meet the age requirements of a silver alert\n\nbut whose safety would be best protected by the\n\nissuance of a silver alert,\n\nc. the procedures for local law enforcement agencies to\n\nfollow in initiating a statewide silver alert,\n\nd. the method whereby information is distributed to\n\nstatewide media outlets,\n\ne. the procedures for the receipt and evaluation of\n\ninformation received from the public about the missing\n\nsenior citizen, and\n\nf. the procedure for the termination of a silver alert;\n\nand\n\n2.
