There is hereby created in any county of this state with a\n\npopulation of more than five hundred thousand (500,000), according\n\nto the latest Federal Decennial Census, a city-county board of\n\nhealth composed of nine (9) members.\n\nB. The membership of the board shall be composed of five\n\nmembers appointed by the city council of such city, or city\n\ncommission, whichever applies, and four members appointed by the\n\nboard of county commissioners of such county. Each member shall\n\nserve a term of six (6) years, except, that of the members initially\n\nappointed by the city council, or city commission, whichever\n\napplies, one member initially appointed shall serve a term of two\n\n(2) years, one member initially appointed shall serve a term of\n\nthree (3) years, one member initially appointed shall serve a term\n\nof four (4) years, one member initially appointed shall serve a term\n\nof five (5) years, and one member initially appointed shall serve a\n\nterm of six (6) years; provided, however, that in any such city\n\nhaving a city board of health created under its charter provisions,\n\nthe members of such city board of health and the tenure of the city\n\nboard of health members of the city-county board of health shall be\n\ncoterminous with the city board of health. Of the members initially\n\nappointed by the board of county commissioners, one member initially\n\nappointed shall serve a term of two (2) years, one member initially\n\nappointed shall serve a term of three (3) years, one member\n\ninitially appointed shall serve a term of five (5) years, and one\n\nmember initially appointed shall serve a term of six (6) years. The\n\nappointing authority shall appoint new members as the terms of\n\noffice of its initial appointees expire. Wherever a city-county\n\nboard of health is now in existence, the current board members shall\n\nbe retained, until the termination of their present appointment, by\n\nthe appointing authorities.\n\nC.
